G13's Blag

A question for readers

Rate this Entry
I have this great idea for a book series. It started as a half-assed short story and grew into something better. The more I wrote the better it got. Now I have more story than I know what to do with and a character that is doing so much it's ridiculous considering the time frame I have it all in.

So I have a question for anyone who loves reading. How do you feel about a series that doesn't go in order? Like, say, if I wrote a book and the sequel was actually a prequel or a story that happened many books before the first.

    well

I like Tolkien's stuff and god knows I never read that in any semblance of order

It depends on how engaging the first book was. Sometimes, sure, I love a character so much that I want to know about their past. It's rare though.

Basically, it's a good idea if you do your very best not to suck.

This holds true for almost anything regarding literature. If it sucks, you can't do it. If it is really good, you can pretty much do whatever the hell you want.

Hmm... I do think I've got something good here but it very well may be in the eyes of others. I can write up a synopsis of the story and show it to any of you, to get an idea of what the story is like, if anyone is interested. I'm very eager to hear what others think of it and I trust all of you well enough that you won't blab it out to anyone who will listen. Send me a PM or leave me a comment here if you're interested in checking it out.
