Nightmares

Rate this Entry
I've had nightmares, multiple nightmares each night, every night for the past week. And I'm pretty sick of it. I've tried not eating before bed, meditating, and other methods of stress reduction and so far no good.

Did you know that the average adult has one to two nightmares each year? I don't have them every night all the time, but I have several week to fortnight-long spells of nightmares each year.

Last night it was a killer flesh eating doll. I can't remember the others right now, but they were all pretty smurfed up.

Shut up brain, stop it. I hate it. Grah.

I have nightmares far more frequently than once or twice a year.

Not as often as every night in a week though... Sucks.

Are you at least a lucid dreamer? I maintain pretty good control while in a nightmare.

I'm not at all a lucid dreamer. Often I will realize I'm dreaming but when I try to change something, like turn the killer doll into a friendly puppy, the puppy becomes an bloodthirsty something with big teeth.

After a nightmare or when I'm half asleep and can tell that I'm going to have one, I find that it helps to wake myself up so I'm 100% alert. Cold water is sometimes necessary. I return to bed in a different state of mind and no nightmare! It might not help much if you're having them this often though

Creative people tend to have nightmares more often than the average person. They say doing something like painting, drawing, singing, or anything along that nature helps to alleviate the amount of nightmares one has through out the year.%2Pr
