I smell better than you.

I've started using homemade versions of almost everything. Dishwasher soap, laundry soap, various household cleaners, shampoo, toothpaste... Today I made my own deodorant. My armpits are just so... clean. And odorless. It's lovely.

I'm trying to wean myself off of shampoo and conditioner entirely. When people go shampoo-free, they have to deal with a few weeks of their hair being gross before their scalp stops over-producing oils. I'm hoping to avoid that by mixing my own shampoo, and slowly lessening the amount of soap in the mixture.

Everything I've tried so far has worked better than the store-bought versions, and it's all much cheaper. And it smells better, because I usually just put a few drops of lavender essential oil in whatever I'm making. It really complements the arrowroot powder in the deodorant.

I'm also slowly starting gardening. I have a basil plant that I'm desperately trying to keep alive, and I'm going to plant my next plant soon. Just haven't decided what.

P.S. All the recipes and stuff are on my Pinterest.

how're you making your shampoo? i went no-poo a year or so ago and for the first few months people asked me if i was washing my hair properly, it was terrible, but i really like it now. although i use baking soda and apple cider now...back then i wanted to go with just water which was a dumb-ass idea...

Right now I've got a spray bottle with apple cider vinegar and some Bronner's soap. I'm not sure if I like it yet. I may add a baking soda rinse. I basically plan on phasing out the soap until I'm on the same plan as you--baking soda rinsed with apple cider vinegar.

Yes, going without cleaning your head at all was kind of a dumbass idea. xD How's it going with the baking soda/ac vin? My BFF's husband uses it for his dreads and they are the cleanest, shiniest dreadlocks you will ever ever see.

I've thought about going no-shampoo a few times because my hair tends to be a bit dry anyway. Everyone tells me I'd still need to condition though. Maybe someday I'll be brave.

Also you're a dir-... clean hippie?

it's real well actually. a bit more work cause i gotta mix the stuff into bottles each time i wash my hair whereas shampoo and bs is already mixed for you...first world hippie problems.
anyway my hair is super soft. but like i said, for the first few months i pretty much just felt like a greasy greaser

I haven't used shampoo in...wow, three months. Like Krissy says, being a greaseball sux but it gets better. I use ACV every other day, and once a week get all fancy with some baking soda paste followed by a leave-in argon something spray conditioner. Sweet.

Do you do the cleaning glass with newspaper thing too? Let me know what you use for yr armpits, because I am allergic to everything and it's gross. HI MANDEE.
