Square Enix loves their countdowns. Recently a new one popped up. Full of space and tweets.

Two planets floating in space with a sun looking down on us, we are presented with a countdown. Earlier in the day the only word on the screen was "STAR". Now to join it is "DIVIDE." In the small text below the countdown it reads "Universal Accel Cosmic Drive". Tweets are then appearing when people mention anything about the site. So what is this all about?

Most fans are jumping straight to the conclusion of a new Star Ocean game. Star Ocean was a popular series that many final fantasy fans branched out to, to fill their minds with space and adventure. It was definitely one of the influential game series that caused many fans to truly sink into the RPG fandom.

Most fans did jump to this conclusion that the countdown would be from their beloved series but over at Siliconera, they discovered actual evidence of the sort. They found something called "Star Galaxy" has been trademarked by Square Enix. Could ...

Last year at E3 we saw the beautiful tech demo of Agni's Philosophy. It showed off Square-Enix's powerful new real time graphic engine for their future games called the Luminous Engine. Before they just insisted it was a tech demo to show off the graphics and what they were capable on the next generation's systems. Take a look again at the demo!

Pretty right? Many fans thought that was all there was, some holding out hope for its actual game production. In a recent interview with the CTO of Square Enix, Julien Merceron at Paris Games Week with the french website ffdream.com, let a little information slip about the possible future of Agni's Philosophy.

So, around June of next year, there will indeed be something different around Agni's Philosophy, which will be presented on perhaps different platforms as those which have been used before. I can not tell you more, I can tell you that it will not turn ONLY PC.
With the expectation of the next gen consoles making an appearance at E3, ...

Final Fantasy XIV got a rocky start but has recently made waves on the 2.0 version or what they are calling " A Realm Reborn." Who knew they really did plan on ditching all the old to bring in the new.

A retailer posted on the NeoGaf forums that he was issued a field destroy on the original Final fantasy XIV games. They say the Rep for Square Enix told them they'd credit $16 for each game. If you don't know, Field Destroy means to physically get rid of the games in retail stores. When questioned, Square had this to say originally ignoring the rumor.

"We haven't announced pricing and launch time for the title yet. However, we have publicly stated that beta will begin at the end of this year."
When pressed further they released this statement:

"In anticipation of the upcoming Alpha and Beta tests for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Square Enix, in coordination with our retail partners, has decided to discontinue sales of the current version of Final Fantasy XIV. This move was done

Final Fantasy VII for the PC has now been officially released on the PC. Unfortunately it's still having some problems. There have been various problems. Some people are having issues with the sound, others with the achievements. Mostly though it's another DRM problem. Many users haven't been getting their serial codes.

The game itself isn't really updated. The graphics are a little stretched on most screens these days. Square-Enix may have missed a perfect opportunity to even just slightly tweak the classic for a whole new audience.

Square-Enix has at least apologized about the DRM by releasing this statement.

Over the past weekend a little early gem popped up for fans. Final Fantasy VII for the PC went up for sale for $12.70. There was no hype, no news of this releasing so early. It was just a sudden release so fans were ecstatic.

Unfortunately for those people who went ahead and purchased it, it didn't work! Square Enix was testing their new site for the FF7 PC re-release. They uploaded an unfinished version of the PC game for testing. Being the internet, people found their testing before they were able to appropriately assess it. This is what customers bought though, the unfinished version. There was a DRM issue and a lot of frustration.

If you were one of these eager fans, SE is offering a full refund as well as the download for the game when it officially arrives for free!

    Square Enix released a statement:

"This weekend, our teams were testing the product website for the upcoming relaunch of Final Fantasy VII on PC. While the website was being tested in its live state, a small number of people were able to

There have been quite a few times in the Final Fantasy series where you just stared at the screen and thought “what the heck did I just play”. Using magic doesn’t phase you. Strange creatures don’t phase you. These moments though? These make you just audibly say, “What the smurf?”

    5 Final Fantasy VIII’s Concert

In VIII, Selphie and Irvine try to set up a date for Squall and Rinoa as well as celebrating his new command position. You get the lovely task of selecting instruments for the remaining cast to play on this date. It’s all a variation of Eyes on Me but each instrument has a bit of a different tune. You can have a lovely celtic sounding composition, or possibly a Jazz one. Or, like many players, you'll end up with a sound that causes weaker willed people’s ears to bleed.

Oh and a very awkward laugh to be had about it? A porn magazine is involved. Being the nice guy he is, Irvine leaves Squall a magazine to help him get Riona and Squall “in the mood.” Yeah. YEAH.
