I know everybody's still thinking about FFXV after the Uncovered event, but there's one game that is coming out much sooner - Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ. And you'll be able to try it as early as Thursday, April 7th - that's tomorrow! Well, as long as you live in North America and have an iOS or Android device.

The official Square-Enix blog recently announced that the localized version of this mobile game is now coming out in the West. The game focuses on a group of Keyblade weilders long before the events of Birth By Sleep - before the mythical Keyblade War. You play a customized player avatar and get to take part in adventures across multiple words, joining factions, and interacting with other players. Tetsuya Nomura has stated that, while the story is integral to the events of Sora's adventure, it can be experienced to its fullest even if going in blind, due to how detached it is from the rest ...

The official Xbox Twitter page recently announced a contest where you can win this freshly unveiled special FFXV-themed edition of the console. The console features an interesting design, to say the least, with a split-in-half look. One of the halves looks sleek in metallic with "Final Fantasy XV" written over the disc slot and a couple other metal ornaments, while the other half is a simple red stripe on a white background. The controller that comes with it gets a very similar treatment.

Are you interested in getting this special edition of Xbox One, bundled with the game? Here are the contest rules for those that want to give it a shot! ...

If you wanted to get your hands on the spiffy new Ultimate Collector's edition, I'm afraid all the 30,000 copies that were put up for distribution have been sold out... within 30 minutes from being put up for sale on SE's official store!

This figure is nothing to sneeze at, considering how much the hype had died down in the years we've been waiting for Final Fantasy XV. Many fans, among them members of our community, have decried the game as a failure simply for the fact that it cannot possibly turn out to be a good game, let alone a great one, after such a long waiting period. There has been a sense of betrayal, almost, among fans who throughout the turbulent development cycle including shifting directors, replacing female characters, etc., simply lost their patience. And yet here we are - fans are coming in door and window, culminating in this monumental sales record. It's safe to say the Uncovered event has won us back.

Released a day after the tenth anniversary of the series, Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance was a wild ride from start to finish. With two playable characters, including the fan favorite Riku, an acrobatic combat system, a return to larger worlds, and more shocking twists in the series plot than any other entry to date, KH 3D was certainly a memorable experience. And it's now turning 4. My, how time flies!

If you missed this on the 3DS, worry not! Kingdom Hearts 3D will be the main focus of the upcoming KH 2.8 HD rerelease for the PS4, so you can experience this dreamy romp in all of its HD glory! Granted, that comes with the sacrifice of its 3D glory, but I know there's a lot of people that will be more than happy with this trade-off.

What are your fondest memories of KH3D? If you haven't played it yet, will you pick it up on the PS4? Let ...

It's hard to believe it's been quite so long, but the first entry in the Kingdom Hearts series came out 14 years ago. Back then no one could expect how huge a hit this crossover between Disney and Final Fantasy could be. What seemed like an insane idea turned out to be a match made in heaven, as Kingdom Hearts is now SE's most recognizable franchise not named Final Fantasy.

Since its release, Kingdom Hearts has developed substantially. With seven entries released in the West and HD collections bringing them all together on the PS3, the series now boasts a very involving story which many fans just can't wait to see the conclusion of in KH III. How ironic that the ninth game in the series is going to be receiving the number 3. Still, it's good to sometimes sit back and take a look on what the series beginnings were like.

So what are your fondest memories ...

I've been doing these reviews for a while now and you'll notice that, barring that one hiccup in the form of Dragon Quest IV, my experience with the series has been that every subsequent installment has been better than the last. Dragon Quest uses a simple formula to great effect. Some may call it dated, but what it does, it does extremely well, and though the changes between installments are much more subtle than, say, in Final Fantasy, the quality still consistently rises between one installment and the next. And then we reach this game. Dragon Quest V was by many regarded the best in the series, and the pinnacle of the Zenithian Trilogy. Dragon Quest VI sits ever in its shadow, forgotten by most, underwhelming in the minds of those who remembered it. But is this game truly such a black sheep?

As of today, Final Fantasy XII has crossed the Nostalgia Border! This game that divided the fanbase so much back in the day can now finally be considered old. That's as good a reason to celebrate as any!

Final Fantasy XII was a departure in many ways. With the story focused on political intrigue rather than interpersonal relationships, as well as a battle system that felt much more real-time than what fans were used to, this game was a very polarizing entry. Nevertheless, time has been merciful for FFXII, and there are more of those that remember it fondly than that initial backlash could suggest. Now let's just hope SE finally decides to rerelease it, as despite people mellowing out about it, this is still the only game that is not playable on any current platform.

Dragon Quest Heroes II is releasing soon in Japan as a follow-up to the popular spin-off to Dragon Quest which mixes classic Dragon Quest characters with a Dynasty Warriors battle system, much like Hyrule Warriors did for Zelda. Yesterday, the team treated us with this presentation, focusing on multiplayer co-op.

Multiplayer battles play out in the "Space-Time Labyrinth", which was originally intended to be a multiplayer-only dungeon, but was made available for single-player by popular demand. No additional details on the dungeon were provided, but judging by the battle seen in the video, it does promise a log of action.

Dragon Quest Heroes II comes out in Japan in May on Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and Playstation Vita. There is no word on the Western release yet. Would you be interested to play this game, should it come out in the West? Are you excited for multiplayer? Did ...

Spring is just around the corner and I'm still curled up with my little old DS, getting my hands on the second game in Dragon Quest's Zenithian trilogy. In some ways, this could be considered Dragon Quest's FFVI (with DQ VIII being FFVII) in that a whole lot of people argue this is the best game in the series, even if DQ VIII was the first one that really grabbed the attention of Western audiences. So is this game truly such a masterpiece?

Well, the first big twist in Dragon Quest V is that you are not the legendary hero. Instead you take control of a little boy who is following his dad on a quest to find this hero. The story, if stripped of all the fluff, is still pretty much the same thing, with a great evil taking control of the land, and it's up to you to find this hero and stop the villain. But putting it like that is not really fair towards the game. Dragon ...

Hironobu Sakaguchi, currently of Mistwalker but we all know him as the father of Final Fantasy, is reportedly teaming up with Silicon Studio, who are responsible for the development of Bravely Default, to create a new game! And... that's about all we know.

The project is in its early stages, so we have no title, no info on the content, the specific genre, or even a platform, but Sakaguchi promises great gameplay, story, graphics and sound. Silicon Studios have recently been working on certain projects for the PS4, so it wouldn't be too far-fetched for this game to come out on that system.

Whatever this game will turn out to be, Sakaguchi and Silicon Studios are hoping to "provide the best experience for gamers around the world."

What do you think about this team-up? Are you excited to hear more? Let us know!

When researching for this article series, one of the most interesting things I've noticed about these video game music composers is how different their reasons for getting into music can be. There are the Shimomuras and Sugiyamas who are classically trained musicians, there are the Uematsus who have grown up rocking out to Deep Purple. And then there's those who just got into music because there was nothing else to do in the country. Such was the case of Takeharu Ishimoto.

Born in rural Nichinan, Miyazaki in 1970, Takeharu Ishimoto needed a hobby. As options in the country are limited, music seemed like a nice creative output. Not much is known about his personal life, however, or his musical education. He loves using the electric guitar and other rock elements in his compositions, and he often performs on the guitar during concerts. He is also quite adept in the technical side of music-making, which is why his first foray into video game music was as a synthesizer programmer, not a composer.

    Ishimoto ...

The day has finally come. The Chrono Trigger-like nostalgic adventure called Ikeniye to Yuki no Setsuna released in Japan today, with both the PS4 and PS Vita versions rating 32/40 in Famitsu, with a fair 8 given by all four reviewers. What did they like about the game?

Well, the evalutation was pretty much what we all expected. The game has a nostalgic feel to it, with a gut-wrenching story, a nice atmospheric soundtrack and great visuals. In many ways, it seems like this is the long-awaited return of the PSX era RPG. And this is both good and bad, as all four revieweres were very critical of the game for not bringing anything new into the formula and relying only on what made this genre so popular before. It's as if the creators were doing everything they possibly could to play it safe and pander to their base. Also, the PS4 and PSVita versions are identical, which means the PS Vita version sadly ...

Yasunori Mitsuda is a miracle all Chrono Trigger fans are glad happened. If he hadn't put his foot down, the iconic game would be quite different than what we remember today, as the music is one of those elements that makes this game so memorable. His work on Chrono Cross was also highly praised for its beautiful melodies and eclectic style, with many fans regarding it as the most perfect video game soundtrack of all time. And though Chrono Trigger did get the occasional symphonic medley along the way, for the longest time these soundtracks didn't really recevie a proper arrangement album. That changed in October 2015.

The Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross Arrangement Album was a real surprise to me in several ways. Most of all, I was surprised I had never heard of it. Considering how beloved this music is, you'd think people would be talking all about it, but no. The other surprise came in the form of the music itself. The ...

Four years ago, Square Enix decided to continue the legacy of Dissidia: Final Fantasy - a legacy of a massive crossover between the characters from all numbered games - as a rhythm game. While many were baffled by the decision to shift the genre in such a dramatic fashion, fans were quickly won over. The adorable art style, unlockable characters, and the timeless music from games I to XIII that we've all grown to love so much has made this game an instant classic. The lack of any kind of forced storyline was probably also another saving grace. I was personally instantly smitten by the game, as I felt as if all those years of rhythm training at music school had been leading up to this moment, when I could finally tap it out to all my favorite musical pieces. Theatrhythm was an amazing experience.

Later that year, in December, SE released this game on iOS and reactions were... well, less than pleasant, let's say. The game came out as a free app, but with only the ...
