On the most recent Dissidia stream, Square Enix revealed a new title for the Final Fantasy series, Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia. This title is a spinoff of a spinoff, departuring from the fighting game aspect of the Dissidia Final Fantasy series with turn-based RPG action. The UI and battle animations are in the style of the Dissidia fighting games, making them just a bit too garish and flashy for me. The game includes characters never before seen in the Dissidia series like XIII's Sazh,VIII's Seifer, Fujin, and Raijin, and Type-0's Rem Tokimiya. Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia will be coming to iOS and Android sometime this year in Japan only. You can check out the reveal trailer below and the game's website here.

According to financial statements released by Official Gazette, Square Enix's new studio Tokyo RPG Factory, the developers of I Am Setsuna have sees a 224 Million Yen loss this year which is roughly 2.4 million US dollars. Their first game, I Am Setsuna, released in Japan back in February of this year for PlayStation 4 and Vita. In Japan I Am Setsuna sold 33,629 copies on PlayStation 4 and 27,994 copies on PlayStation Vita in its first week. That is not awful for a new IP, but it wasn't good in regards to Square Enix and the deficit makes it clearly apparent.

World of Final Fantasy will be out this October just a month after Final Fantasy XV and Square Enix has some more footage and details about this upcoming spinoff.

PlayStation Access has managed to play a new demo of the game focusing on the game's battle system. In this footage we can see familiar enemies such as Bombs, Tonberries, and Mandragoras. You can catch monsters ala Pokemon by wittling their health to a certain point and imprisoning them. Monsters or mirages as they're called in this game, can be stacked on your character's head to grant them abilities in battle like two fire monsters can grant you access to the Firaja spell. These mirages can even evolve just like Pokemon and have their own skill tree.

Summons in this game seem to have been replaced by the medal system in which you can summon characters from the mainline series to perform an attack. In this demo we can see Tidus from Final Fantasy X being called forth to perform his best Overdrive Blitz Ace. The animation can be quite ...

Final Fantasy XV has been getting a lot of attention at this year's E3 and today we take another look at the game's airship. The game's airship was first revealed at the Uncovered event back in March, very briefly at the end of a trailer. Now, we have an extensive look at this transforming, flying car.

What's notable about this car is that it's different from the Regalia that's been shown in all the other videos. The carship has a more rounded build with sharp edges. Either the Regalia will be upgraded to fly through the game's campaign (likely by Cid) or the player will obtain a new version of the Regalia through the journey. We can see that the transition from ground to air is seamless and that the Regalia has parts that extends further when going airborne. The flight speed doesn't seem as fast compared to other FF games, but the other games were on a world map where the airship was larger than many structures on the map while this game has a more realistic scale by being open ...

Final Fantasy XV made an appearance at this year's Microsoft press conference today and the demonstration this time around is a boss fight against the summon Titan. This demo honestly made the game look very rough. The battle looked negatively chaotic with camera jump and angles that obscured your vision, not to mention the stream repeatedly took third person shots of the gameplay. When Noctis was clearly visible on screen, Ignus, and the others weren't. There wasn't indication of damage infliction either. This demo was not impressive and hopefully Square Enix has something better to show for the game this week.

In 2005 or perhaps early 2006, I played my first Dragon Quest game. I had previously played the demo of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King and the classic JRPG gameplay entertained me enough so when Square Enix announced the American release and that it was coming with a demo of Final Fantasy XII, it was without question that I was going to buy it.

DQVIII was a bit different from what I used to primarily playing the Final Fantasy series with its slower paced battles, faith themes, and game overs resulting in loss of currency, but also familiar with its vast over-world, silliness, and charm. This was also my first experience with Akira Toriyama's art outside of the Dragonball series. I found the game massively enjoyable and it had remained my only experience with Dragon Quest until now.

26 years ago today, the third entry in the Final Fantasy series released for the Famicom. It had some shoes to fill as it was following the highly praised original Final Fantasy and the less than praised sequel Final Fantasy II. Final Fantasy III is one of the less talked about entries. It's not as adored as other games in the series, but it's not actively disliked like Final Fantasy II or the XIII trilogy.

Final Fantasy III's story is a simple and familiar tale. An impeding force of darkness threatens the world and four Warriors of Light must come to save the world by gathering the crystals. The four playable characters were nameless silent Onion Knights leaving the personality to the game's NPCs. The story of Final Fantasy III I found pretty forgettable. It was just a premise to set the actual game. The one unique thing regarding it was that occasionally you would get a guest party member, but they served only in the narrative sense and would not join you in battles. You ...
