With the Square Enix party taking place next week, most fans are eagerly anticipating upcoming information for Nomura's newest title, Final Fantasy XIII for the Playstation 3; however, Famitsu seems to have gotten slightly ahead of Square Enix with an information leak. Final Fantasy IV, the first of the legendary series to feature the Active Time Battle will shed its dark, 16-bit armor and be reborn as a Paladin on the Nintendo DS handheld!  It appears to utilize the engine of Final Fantasy III, brought to American shores for the first time last winter.

Venturing away from the handheld market and onto the console and PC front,  Square Enix's highly successful MMORPG FINAL FANTASY XI has a new expansion titled "Wings of the Goddess", scheduled for release this Winter.  While no new gameplay information has been explicitly revealed to the public at this current date, the trailer seems to focus highly on the player traveling back through time to re-write pages in Vana'diel's ...

Square Enix has taken the opportunity to announce its lineup of new titles at the Tokyo Game Show. Although the Tokyo Game Show is currently ongoing throughout this entire weekend, Quiter has already posted several magazine scans from the Weekly Shonen.

The scanned magazines show several screenshots from three prominent titles. The first magazine scan displays Cloud Strife and some other events from Final Fantasy VII, but the scenes are given major graphic overhauls. This is Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Information given so far only states that the story will take place two years after the events in Final Fantasy VII, and that it will be on a video DVD; that is, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is not a game.

The second magazine scan shows off Kingdom Hearts 2. Familiar faces return in this highly anticipated sequel.

The third magazine scan was a surprise title. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories is a new Kingdom Hearts game for the Gameboy Advance.

Because the Tokyo Game Show is still underway, information has not yet been released ...

Square Enix has set definite release dates for the long-awaited sequel to Final Fantasy X, and has also announced a new International version of the game which will be for sale only in Asia.

Final Fantasy X-2 is slated for release in North America in early December of this year, and a PAL release is expected to follow soon afterwards in the first quarter of next year. These release dates have been officially announced by Square Enix itself, as to clear confusion from conflicting retail shops which slated the game for different dates, some expecting the game as early as September or November.

An International version of the game has also been announced. The game will be released in Japan and Asian countries only, and will be akin to the North American version of the game, similar to Final Fantasy X: International. This International package, however, has quite a few extras that would make it worthwhile to the import gamer. Firstly, a special new game disk will be included with the package. Titled "Last Mission", it describes the seemingly ...

During a press conference in Germany, Disney has confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 2 is currently under development over at Square Enix.

Its predecessor, Kingdom Hearts, sold millions of copies in Japan and the States alone, with its unique cast of Disney and Final Fantasy characters alike. As previously reported, Square Enix wishes to turn Kingdom Hearts into a more mainstream series, similar to Final Fantasy. Could this be the first step into turning Kingdom Hearts into a popular gaming series? When asked about the sequel, the director of the Kingdom Hearts project, Tetsuya Nomura had no comment.

At this point in time, there has been no release dates or even definitive information about the title.

After nearly a year of speculation as to the status of Final Fantasy XI, Square Enix has finally announced a tentative release date for the online title.

Final Fantasy XI is expected for release in North America for the PC somewhere in October. An exact release date has not yet been announced, but it's better than nothing. Square Enix has remained silent about the status of the online title in North America for awhile; Beta testing began a few months ago, as gamers from all over applied to be one of the lucky few able to play the title in its early Beta stages.

Despite only announcing a release date for the PC version of the game, Square Enix is still expected to release the game for the Playstation 2. It will sell alongside its expensive hard drive peripheral, which is required to play the game.
