Square has revealed that the Final Fantasy Tactics game on the Gameboy Advance is, in fact, a completely different game.

While most gamers were led to believe that this game was a psuedo-remake of the original Playstation game, the game will feature completely new characters and a different storyline. In addition, Final Fantasy Tactics "Advance" will feature custom scenario creation and link cable battles.

Details that remain unknown is whether the game will use the same job class system as its predecessor, and if the game is due for a North American release.

In an official announcement Square has given details on their Gameboy Advance lineup for 2002 and 2003. The games to be released are as follows:

    - Final Fantasy Tactics: Winter 2002; Spring 2003.
    - "Seiken Densetsu" sequel: Summer 2003.
    - "Chocobo" sequel: Winter 2002.
    - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Spring 2003.

The first game has already been announced, but now a firm release date has been given. Final Fantasy Tactics for the Gameboy Advance is set to release sometime in winter. While the game will retain most of the aspects of its Playstation predecessor, gameplay will be tweaked somewhat and because it is portable, a Quicksave feature will be added.

The second and third games on the lineup are sequels to be released on the Gameboy Advance. The true titles of the games are unknown at this time. It is known, however, that the Seiken Densetsu title is being developed by Brownie Brown. Brownie Brown is responsible for the original Seiken Densetsu titles.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is a Gameboy Advance game which can be linked to a Gamecube version of the game. Up to four players can linkup together. ...

Square has announced that Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II are to be remade for the PSOne.

As you may recall, Square has remade the two games for Bandai's Wonderswan Color, however, the portable system was never released outside of Asia and, as a result, the remakes were confined to Asia as well. The Wonderswan Color games were very similar to their NES counterparts, but received graphical updates.

The PSOne versions of the games will include updated graphics, sounds, and additional events and scenes. In addition, Mode 7 graphics (similar to Final Fantasy V, 3D-esque) will be used while riding the Airship. FMVs in the introduction and ending of the game will be added as well.

Though the two remakes are to be released seperately, Square is also planning to release a compilation of the two games—Final Fantasy I & II Premium Pack, which will include action figures, picture labels, a monster picture book and an art book.

Update: Final Fantasy I & II for PSOne will be released in Japan on October 31, for 3800 yen each. The Final Fantasy I & II Premium Pack is also available ...

To follow up on an earlier story, it appears as though one of the major problems Final Fantasy XI has been experiencing as of late has been determined. Sony has recently released information which states that Final Fantasy XI is incompatible with certain unspecified models of the PS2 console. In these cases, an error message prevents booting and the game fails to load. Players with this type of problem are asked to contact Sony, but it is unknown whether this is to fix the problem or merely to allow Sony to collect information on it.

This incompatibility with PlayStation2 models is one of several technical difficulties that have stymied the operation of Final Fantasy XI since its release. Another difficulty that prospective FFXI players have encountered is the unavailability of PlayStation2 hard drives. These products have become so hard to find that many players have been forced to look to internet service providers who happen to carry them. Additionally, most ISP's only offer the hard drive as part of a package deal which includes ...

Since talk began of Squaresoft's fist venture into the online gaming forum, RPG players everywhere have eagerly anticipated the release of Final Fantasy XI. However, this may prove to be one of the fist times that Square, a leader in the RPG industry, fails to live up to expectations. Apparently, Square's underestimation of the level of interest in their title has led to their PlayOnline server being overwhelmed with players. Also, the billing company used by Square was unable to process the flood of registrations. Even the website for PlayOnline experienced technical difficulties with this massive influx of players, rendering support services unable to accomodate the legions of upset FFXI'ers.

Squaresoft has since determined one of the major causes for the server problems is faulty registration codes, which accompany each copy of Final Fantasy XI individually. Consequently, those with copies of Final Fantasy XI that have an invalid registration code will be unable to access PlayOnline, and FFXI, until the problem is fixed. Moreover, ...
