Kerouac is one of his influences, if I remember correctly. I take it you haven’t seen the Vegas movie. If you can’t find the book, then the movie might be worth seeking out.
That is the one I'm looking for, yeah. The obscure stuff might be a bit...I don't know. I find it's better to go for the well-known one first, and if I like it, then move on to the hardcoreness. Same with Kerouac. Who I absolutely love. I read the blurbs and stuff for F&LiLV; I can imagine the government banning it xD although I wasn't sure, because I dunno if it's really as sordid as the blurb I read made out. They're crazy. They banned Borat.
Not at all. But I can see the Malaysian government doing that. If anything, you should probably go for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Unarguably his most popular work, but diving in to the obscure stuff without knowing what you are getting yourself into could prove fatal.
[q]One of Hunter S. Thompson’s theme songs is a Bob Dylan song.[/q] Mr. Tambourine Man, right? I recall you telling me about this before. That's so awesome, though. I keep looking around Malaysia for Hunter S's books, but I can't find them. =S Are they the kind of books that'd be banned from places? I can just see the Malaysian government doing something like that.
Nobody cares.
