Does he have a practice amp? It’s also good to have a practice amp along with a main amp, smurfed if I know what the real terms are but... that’s what I picked up, anyway. Keep a practice amp to practice at home, then get the big boy out for playing with the band. Or, headphones. But, maybe it’s all beyond reason.

In that case, earmuffs would be a better solution. Although they might give you a sore neck after a while.

Oh, we tried that. But he doesn't like doing that.

Or make your brother plug headphones into his amp... at least while he’s practicing on his own.

Maybe ear muffs would be better? I dunno if they're not as good as plugs when it comes to blocking sound, but I hate ear plugs.

The problem is: the bigger the amp, the louder it has to be to get the best sound out of it. And when you’re at home, a nice big concert amp might just blow not only your ears out, but also your neighbors’. If it’s too loud, maybe you should ask for some earplugs. Although those are gross.

We did that yesterday. It was my brother's birthday. He got this...smurfing gigantic amp, and I was scared of how loud he would play it, but thank god he seems to be exercising some self-control right now.

The kind of hunger a pizza can’t solve.
