Though I can already see some of the pretentious people you've mentioned. I also hate how everyone is constantly babbling on about "show don't tell". Sure, you don't want to tell people how to feel, but this is not a universal rule. Everything has its place. Sometimes a character will see that someone is angry, and saying every time that someone clenches their fists or something equally blatant is just horribly naive. Ugh,

Well, it'd be awesome if I won anything. My track record in competitions is zero. Even here, I always lose to Formy But I still wanna get better, and get my work out there, so I'm just gonna have to try and try again. I'll do my best to take part in this, and I'll be on the lookout for others as well

There's a sci-fi story contest open right now on scrib. It sounds pretty interesting! Karma points are the only prize, but the magazine sponsoring it MIGHT consider publishing your story!

I'm actually considering writing a story for that sci-fi contest that's open right now. There's little time, which I'm aware of, but what the hell, maybe I should give it a shot? I don't think I've got anything to lose.
