All You Zombies, The Rhum, and Forever to a Hudson Bay Blanket are three very fantastic sci fi short stories as well. Presumably you've read Flowers for Algernon? It's about longer - at around 30 pages or so - but well worth it. Always makes me weep.

Locky, though I may have to bother her some, because she's busy with about 900 other things right now but obviously I am the most important.

Also, sci-fi. There's a great short story called "The Gold at Starbow's End". It's about an experiment. A bunch of reasonably normal people are sent on a one-way mission to explore part of the solar system and, hopefully, find some interesting and potentially colonisable worlds, because Earth is in a poor state. But problems keep arising on the ship. Techie problems. But none of the astro-naughts (clever pun!) are engineers, or scientists, or mathematicians, or ANYTHING USEFUL FOR SPACE. And thus it gets interesting. The real exploration was not of space, but of human potential in a desperate time. The ship was built to fail. Every facet of it was specifically made to break down over time, and there was never enough fuel supplied to reach the final destination in the first place. By forcing greatness upon these people, they become masters of the universe, effectively. It's a great story, if you can find it.

Wow, thanks I'm actually bilingual. I've been talking to native speakers of English since early childhood, but I still spent my whole life in Poland. It's great hearing that from someone neutral. I mean my teachers have told me I write better in English, but though they're English professors, they're not really native speakers. I would really appreciate it if you found enough time to properly read and evaluate my writing. I really want to become a writer, you see, so I want to take every possible opportunity to improve

I told you we were going somewhere special for Christmas, didn't I? Look, we're heading in the right direction, I can feel it. You just have to have a little faith. The pub is a stone's throw away, I just know it!
