We have the Chicken Festival because London *where I live* was the first place to ever have a KFC.
The reason the place is called '"Kentucky" Fried Chicken'

The festival itself it just a cause to celebrate, peopel have shops set up all along mainstreet and there are tons of jewelry places and stuff like that.
