This man who finds a Death Note, a book that kills anybody when you write their name in it and picture their face. He uses it to "cleanse" the world, thinking he can kill off criminals and make a utopia as he sees fit. This sends him into a huge plot of trying to keep the Death Note secret while murdering anybody who is in his way, such as the police and the private investigator known only as "L" who are trying to stop him.
