There's so much good things about this game. Really, taking a Pokémon design so personally when a company really couldn't care enough to try to consciously hurt you is just... counter-intuitive.

Btw, my wife just started playing The Witcher, and here's a PSA: while the game uses a device to make the game world and characters accessible to new players, it is actually a sequel to the books. So if you actually want to read the books, best do it before the games because spoilers

No need to apologise about the Pokemon thing, life happens. I just said it so everyone involved knew that the kid was taking a bit of a break from EoFF and related internet things so that anyone could pick up hosting if they wanted. x}

They're completely different. Not to mention they happened later. LoTR codified many fantasy tropes while The Witcher deconstructs many of them. While not really light, they're not as dark as LoTR and much less heavy, and not at all poetic, which isn't a bad thing. The fantasy world is an interesting blend of Slavonic and Anglo-Saxon folklore.

No, the books go WAAAAY back. They're like the quintessential Polish fantasy books. We actually adapted them before, with a semi-decent tv show and a terrible movie!
