The treasure was broken. He came upon this decision with a million swift pencil breaks and an awful china plate. Why, he enquired, did such a fine Puppet turn bad? He wondered, he wandered, he lusted for the answer. The answer which could bring him peace. Peace, he needed. Peace was peace, for him, and he wanted to be in it. In peace.
"Answer my question. Did the sun set? Or did you kiss me?" The boy shuffled his feet. Difficult questions called for difficult shufflings, by golly they did.
"I'm not sure. It rises in the East and sets in the West. I know this, because there's a bee in your hair." The fair maiden giggled, pointing at the wee lad's head.
"My, there is! What a coincidence! I might go home now!" She fixed him a stare.
"You go home and the world won't revolve around me anymore." She looked down at her feet, eyes tearing up.
"Then I'll stay. I have something better to do, but I'll stay. That's the way things should be. There's no smell here, only visual."
"Thanks!" She beamed at him. "But what'll we do?"
"We could ride the swing for a little while. God knows I've got somewhere to be." He gestured towards the tree that was concealing a swing, tied to a rope and led into different times.
"I'm scared of that. Of that place. It's not where I want to be."
"I have to go there. Who knows what'll become of me if I don't?" They embraced shortly, and for a long time, and no more than 2 seconds.
With the door closed, she was alone without the mirrors and with the smells.

"Aye, 'tis true, fair lady. I wish to ravish you. And lavish you with all the pearls I have reaped. I wish to marry you. And carry you far far away from here."
