You're going to need to spend time in the optional dungeon to get Vishnu, as they are a few unique demons in there you won't encounter on the map from what I hear.

Honestly, depending on your temperament, I would probably save the SQQ for another day. Not because it's hard, but because I do feel that it's really easy to get yourself burned out on this entry.

    Oh Michael...

Yeah, that's kind of how I feel about P1, no where near as good as some games in the franchise, but there is something addicting about it, and the cast isn't that bad either once you get used to their abrasive attitudes. My Snow Queen Quest, basically has me rolling with the cast of Mean Girls. If I replaced the MC with Nanjou, I would have every prick in the party, and it makes the conversations with the bad guys just funnier cause this party gives no smurfs.

I remember the last dungeon being a bit of a doozy, as well as the world of the unconscious (can't remember it's name) but the seriously clever dungeons are in the Snow Queen Quest.

Oh yes, I do not converse with the MegaTen fanbase at all. I've already dealt with the toxic FF and Xeno fan-bases for years, I don't need to deal with a new one.

I could have sworn that negotiations are based on the negotiators level, but I could be wrong. Sadly, it's hard to find good information on Persona 1 because it's the black sheep of the franchise.

Funny how we were just talking about this, but Trisha and the Golden Playhouse Segment from Catherine just got used again for another Atlus promotion, with a hint at the end that she might show up again in the future.

I still need to finish Raidou...

I can see the Persona Up of SMTIV after going through Nocturne and SMT1. There was definitely a heavier focus on characters and story conflict that runs counter to what I have always felt was a series that maintained an emotional detachment between the cast and narrative. I just disagree with the angry fans that it was a bad thing to make this change.

I think DS1 falls into that category of being so wonky, that Atlus knows they couldn't just port it, they would likely have to do some serious modding on it like they did with Persona 1. It has not aged as gracefully as other games and most fans consider Soul Hackers to be superior in most ways.

PSP EP not getting released out of Japan was definitely a missed opportunity, and one I'm still a bit miffed about as well since it had the better new content. It's not helped that I found it to be the better of the two games, and the PSP port of IS ended up putting in a lot UI features from EP in it. I'm mostly annoyed because it likely killed interest in the earlier games. I would still love for P2 and even p1 to get more in-game nods and expansions with the Persona franchise.

True, but let's face it. Shin Megami Tensei isn't terribly popular in the West which is why SMTIV and Final tried to Persona it up a bit to the anger of the more die-hard fans. Catherine did well in the West, which surprised everyone.

Actually, before Persona 5 shattered the record, Catherine was actually one of Atlus' best selling titles. I really wouldn't be surprised if they at least re-release it later. I mean it's even a DLC costume set for P5, so I wouldn't be worried about it being forgotten.

    That's cool.

I've been replaying Breath of Fire II lately and getting back into fighting games a bit thanks to a youtube series. I've been debating about a new playthrough of Catherine as well since my entry for it on my list.

You probably can't use her yet since you need to be level 20 to equip her. Course the game has no issue letting you make things you can't use.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
