That might work, though I would say playing EP without either prior Persona game as the title has way more references to P1 than you would think.

Yeah, I learned about Ghost Stories from one of the VA's who worked on it. He says it's one of his favorite animes he ever worked on.

No, Shin-Chan had a lot of toilet humor, but was pretty family friendly for Japan. The issue with the English version was that the series was a bit too juvenile and vulgar to get past censors for children shows but the stories were too childish for adults to appreciate, so they changed the script to make it more adult orientated.

As for the Witcher villain, I'm a bit disappointed to hear that all of his characterization is in the novels only. That's some serious ball dropping by the game designers if you ask me because it hurts the players who didn't bother reading the books.

Probably, I haven't watched the whole thing. It was a boring anime that bombed in Japan, so when it got licensed in the U.S. the Japanese company said to do whatever to make it sell, so the writer's and VA conspired to make it the most offensive show they could. Kind of like what happened with Shin-Chan.

Have I mentioned how much I love Ghost Stories dub?

How are you ? Hows the Fynn going ?

Oh yeah. Not to mention when you have the three days after to visit all of your social links and the game keeps mentioning how tired you are.

That's kind of what I'm getting at though, the game spends more time making the cast one big tight knit family of friends, whereas P3 (and P5) spend time actually showing that while the team is together with a common goal, they still have their own quirks and reasoning to have conflict with other characters on the team.

The other issue is that P4 has the slice of life anime formula a little too much, in which I feel like the plot stalls for the episodic content, and never moves forward. I mean that cast is no closer to figuring out the true culprit from the fifth possible victim as it was from the first, and it feels like the plot never goes anywhere beyond the simple formula. P3 at least had an underlying goal and mystery that made the episodic nature of the first half of the game at least feel like it was going somewhere. It's why I love P5 so much as well because the game actually has a story that is leading you somewhere and despite being fairly formulaic, there is a certain momentum to the whole thing that keeps you coming back for more.

The one major praise I'll still give P3 is that it has the best climatic final battle/ending in the series. P4 and 5 both try to ape it to some extent, but I feel P3 really did a great job of not only making the encounter feel hopeless but the miracle deus ex machina feels spectacular when you see it happen. P5 does a pretty decent job of not feeling quite as... "copied" as P4 did (again, another reason why I like the Good Ending over the True Ending) but it still lacks the sheer Holy trout Quotient that P3's ending segment had for me.

P1 is quirky, the SQQ's biggest issue might be the wonky difficult curve. Crushed the boss of Nemesis (but screwed up the dungeon so I missed out on the last mirror shards) and then was immediately destroyed in the story by the Snow Queen Mask boss fight who pelted my party with Ma-Dyne skills. So I have to redo Nemesis Tower again, but at least I'll get the chance to do it properly.

Yeah, I always appreciate when I hear people giving P3 some of the credit its due. I had a similar conversation not too long ago myself. P4 just adhered to the slice of life aspect way too much for my taste, so I was really happy P5 went in the opposite direction and made the game more plot focused.

Plus, we'll get to have tons of 4 player free for all Smash Bros matches. Or Mario Kart races. Things like that.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
