If playing P5 has done anything for me, I'm thinking of going through P2 again when I finally finish it. I haven't touched Eternal Punishment in years, so I'm kind of looking forward to it.

Yeah, there are some messed up things going on in this game, and the first major arc is probably one of the "oh trout, we're actually going there aren't we?" moments. There is a domestic violence mission as well, but probably not as graphic as the Witcher 3 one from what you're implying. Still the game focuses on bullying, gossip, sexual abuse, corruption of authority, blackmail, and murder. It's certainly tied with P2 Duology as the darkest entry in the series so far in terms of actually bringing up and talking about more mature subjects. The game really feels like a good social commentary about the current state of our world even.

The central theme of the game is social reform, and it's probably the best example of capturing the BS that is the modern media/social network element of society as well. There is a minor mechanic in the game that actually keeps track of how much your group is trending in social media and also serves as your groups approval rating. While P3 and P4 touched on the public opinion element affecting society, it's a central focus of P5 and you will learn to hate people really quickly in this game because of it. The Fall and Fog were nice allegories for their games themes, but P5 has gone back to the series roots in P2 to basically showcase how messed up society is and make it a more tangible concept.

Well at least the game has the balls to go there.

The themes just have tough competition.

Yeah, I'm pretty much at the Wham Episode, but probably before the real supernatural threat makes itself known part, which is typical, because P3and P4 did this around late October, early November as well.

I was watching a compilation video of all of the Persona openings and about the time Dancing All Night came to be, I decided P4 hit rock bottom. Also, I forgot how awful the opening songs for P3P, P4G, and the P4Arena games were.

Also, HOLY smurf I JUST LOST OCTOBER AND IT WAS AMAZING!

It was incredibly short lived. I'm already dreading the P5 spinoffs.

It's got the P3 thing going for it where the themes and mechanics are closely tied together, so I'm pretty happy.

Oddly no, up until this Confidant opened up, the arcade was just a meeting place. Basically the way Mementos works is that it functions like Tartarus from P3, but you can pick up missions to change the hearts of wicked people whose Shadows can be found there.

In this case, the target is a business man who cheats at a local arcade in a Light Gun game, when you go to confront his shadow though, since he believes himself untouchable, your attacks always miss. So you have to go back to the real world and track down the one player who actually beat this guy at the arcade game to learn how to do so, and said kid turns out to be the Tower Arcana.

Actually, one thing I suspected early in the game has come to fruition, now that I'm getting closer to the end of some Confidants and I love it because it actually ties all the game mechanics together very neatly.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
