I don't know, I'm actually trying to think of another post-apocalyptic series in the 90s that can be compared to it. I would probably say his old designs feel a bit dated since that whole scene was more of an 80s thing.

You have a very curvy style to your designs.

True, but you saw so little of that kind of design in places. I have a serious soft spot for 80's apocalyptic visuals so I guess it never bothered me or looked boring.

High Pixie was the one I got. I suspected Cerberus, but it didn't look like Koromaru's Cerberus.

I hope you enjoy the vid. Tam Lin is one of my favorite fairy tails, and that's a fantastic version of the ballad. I wanted to post a thread talking about it, but I figured it wouldn't be welcome.

Actually, some fans think Kaneko got kicked upstairs since his titles don't sell as well as the Persona teams. Of anything, I feel he had to since the original producer/president of the company left them around the time Persona 3 came out. He's like one of the few original staff members left.

I don't mind Soejima and Doi either, but I feel in the case of Soejima at least, that his style is a bit too... commercial I guess? Kind of like Nomura's style. There isn't anything wrong with their artwork, but it kind of just seems to blend in with what everyone else is doing. Kaneko's art style on the other hand is edgy and eye-catching, even if it is often bizarre and ridiculous.

Yeah, it feels like Atlus is going a bit overboard with "appealing character designs". I honestly prefer Kaneko's character designs to Persona's new artist.

Strange Journey and Raidiata Historia are both getting remakes actually.

I foresee a Marie element with Strange Journey, but I'm frankly happy the game is going to get a second shot cause it deserves it. Though I would prefer a remaster/collection of the SNES/PSX era MegaTen at at the moment.

I tend to agree. I can never decide which of the two numbered games is my favorite -- I have a soft spot for the played-straight premise, claustrophobic atmosphere, and elegant simplicity of the first -- but DR2 is at least objectively better. The only other game that's available in English right now is the Ultra Despair Girls spinoff, which... would probably be better left to just viewing the cutscenes on YouTube. It's not great. Have you watched anything of the DR3 anime (completely unrelated to V3)?

You can probably guess from my avatar who my favorite is, but I love Nagito as well -- far and away the standout of the second game. And (SPOILER)Junko is one of my all-time favorite villains across any media.

I like that one, but for me, it's doubtful that the series will ever top (SPOILER)Leon's 1000 Blows death. Despite being the very first execution, it's still one of the most shocking, brutal, horrific things in the series, made all the worse by how sympathetic and terrified he was.

I'm aware of both, but I know absolutely nothing about Shin Megami Tensei. I'm slightly more familiar with Persona, and I'm hoping to play P5 eventually, but it's still new territory.

I think the story definitely would've been a lot better with Basch, Ashe, or Balthier as the player character, but it's not something I'm passionately argumentative about or anything. I can accept that the little twerp is a good outside perspective for all of the political intrigue, and I kind of love how everyone just starts forgetting he's there later on.

I figured it wouldn't be -- you folk do seem to be generally level-headed from what little time I've spent here. Still, as recently as last year when XV was rolling out, I've spoken to people for whom XII is still almost a personal slight. It's weird.

Now that the confusion with these messages is cleared up, a Danganronpa-related question I wanted to ask: your favorite entry in the series, favorite character, and favorite death / punishment?

Sorry Fynn, I've been pretty busy with life lately. (I've hardly had time to do the drawing prompts either!). Thank you for the invite though!

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
