I also keep meaning to share this with you.

I've heard they lessened the amount of battles required to level the vocations for this version. I usually make everyone master a class and start a secondary one when I leave Dharma Temple in VII. I usually make the Hero a Cleric, Maribel a Mage, and Gabo is usually a Shephard then I switch them to Warrior, Clerics, and Fighter.

I don't know DQIII-V are about 20 to 40 hours on average, even with some of the extra content. Not sure about VI obviously but starting with VII the series started to try and hit that 60 hour mark of other RPGs. I'm probably already at 60 hour point in DDS and still discovering crap I didn't know about. Granted I hit a snag cause there is no way I'm going into the Beelzebub fight without Death and Expel Null.

With that said, I feel like the older DQ games simply feel longer. I mean 4 Heroes of Light has felt like an eternity but I just found out today that I've barely broke the 30 hour mark with it.

When I finish it, I think I'm either going to start Tactics Ogre or finish DQIX. I don't really want to start Soul Hackers or Persona Q with my other two MegaTen titles, and I can pretty much tell right now I wouldn't be able to make it through the prologue of Bravely Default after 4 Heroes of Light. I've already decided to not bother getting the four ultimate classes cause I don't really want to deal with four 100 level dungeons with bosses that require you to be in the high 90s to beat (I don't have one character yet who is level 40 or over) so that ain't happening.

It helps that they are shorter games as well so you never quite feel as burnt out. Though that sentiment really goes away with DQVII and onward.

I'm slightly feeling burned out since I'm playing in conjunction with SMT1. I've been trying to finish 4 Heroes of Light on the side to keep me in the zone though.

Is there a 'flip the board' option if things don't go my way? So wait, you level up by playing a board game?

Also, ugh, replying to myself. How silly.

Also, there's things called Command Styles and Dimension Links. I'm guessing the latter is basically a summon?

Here's the rub: I never actually did any of the super hard endgame stuff. Like fighting Sephiroth, the Hades Paradox Cup, etc. And of course now there's Lingering Will, the Cavern of Remembrance, the Data XIII, and the Mushroom XIII.

I might do some of the easier ones first, like the Mushroom XIII, and probably Sephiroth and the Hades Paradox Cup. After that I might just defeat Xemnas again, and move on to BBS and come back later for the new endgame content.

Complicating things is the new command deck system in BBS, so I'll have to spend time learning that. Yay.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
