I did mention an idea concerning a story like that, though it's still in the early planning stages. I'll probably want to start working on it again when I get around to playing Raidou Kuzunoha again.

My only complaint is that some 'revisits' feel inferior to the first visit. The Land of Dragons, for example. The second visit is ridiculously short.

    Meanwhile, in the other games...

KH: II: Did the massive Hollow Bastion episode, and I'm now on Round two of the worlds. I'm not sure what your take is on the whole round trip. I didn't mind going around the worlds twice, but I know you're probably more sceptical about it than I am. Either way, the massive Hollow Bastion episode got like, two or three new cutscenes. The most notable one being Xemnas heading into something called the Chamber of Repose. A flashback scene involving Zexion and Xigbar confirms it as a place where he talks to someone. The former cutscene reveals some blue armour. Interesting, probably a tie-in to BBS. The flashback scene also refers to a Chamber of Waking, where Xemnas's *other* friend is. Mysterious!

During the Hollow Bastion fight, a brand new area has appeared. It's called the Cavern of Remembrance. It seems very high level, so I'm leaving it until the final Hollow Bastion revisit.

SMT IV: Handbags at dawn between Walter and Jonathan, who appear to now rather dislike each other. Poor neutral Isabeau. I kinda want to join her, but I'm forced to choose between Walter and Jonathan. In the end, I pick Walter, partly because of your advice, partly because Jonathan's "I can't see Mikado and Tokyo co-existing" line made me cool off him a tad. Either way, I'm actually doing side-quests in the meantime, so I've not actually done anything with Walter yet.

I am the opinion giver! Thank goodness you actually enjoy these little bits of mine.

Anyway, I watched 358/2 Days: The Movie the other day. I smurfing loved it. The story was bittersweet the whole way through, because you ultimately know what happens to the three main characters. In that regard, it is a lot like Persona Q, a game where the story really hits because you know what happens ultimately.

The feels happened rather frequently, and especially in the final 58 days. Xion is a fantastic character. Axel is fleshed out plenty and you do definitely see him develop, from ruthless assassin when he's around in Castle Oblivion, to chummy mate when he's around Roxas and Xion. The Twilight Town ice cream meet-ups were excellent, and while the story only really kicks in proper after the first 150 days, I really enjoyed the character interaction which was more than enough to tide me over until heavy plot stuff began happening in earnest (and eventually overtook the lighter moments).

I like how each day is divided up as well. In the movie version at least, after a day is finished, a simple black background with the day ticking up by the required amount really worked. Making a video game into a movie is tricky, but it was effective enough. Even the 'text' segments weren't overdone and basically provided a way to cover the boring days. They often went like "Roxas carried out his missions over the next 20 days or so" and then you skip that many days to an actual event.

Overall, I really liked it, and provides plenty of clarity with Roxas, the Organisation and so on. Like CoM, it provides a lot of flesh for KH:II, though it doesn't reveal anything (I think?) that'll impact the entire series. I might be wrong on that. That isn't a critique, by itself 358/2 Days is a fantastic addition.

And now here's the part when you tell me you hated it

    This is true

Honestly because it's too hard and the voices give me a headache. I have it on the To Play list to give it a final chance because I never get very far at all, but yap
  7. View Conversation
That's true. I'm sure you'll enjoy it when you get the chance. Not sure if you'll like it as much as the earlier installments but I'm sure you'll like it.
  8. View Conversation
Well that's good at least. Here I figured you would be lamenting the need to play.

Well it turns out I've ran into one of the games many bugs, apparently the Destiny Land game doesn't always work due to a glitch either inherited by the original or due to the emulation. Whatever, I'll do it the hard way.

Anyway, how is resisting DQVII going for you?

Its nice that SJ at least let you see what your alignment was. My issue is that it seems like I may have moving toward Law by accident anyway and the Ikekoburo section shifted me pretty far in. I've been trying to shift my alignment at Tokyo Destiny Land , but I think I can only really do it twice. Now I'm hunting Law demons (which are surprisingly rare) while running a Neutral party.

I mean I guess I like the fact that the alignment shift really does affect the game, I just wish there were better options to fix it. As Law aligned, I can't even do tasks for Chaos to shift it back.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
