Yeah, I was a bit worried that the hype would leave a bitter taste in my mouth, but so far, I'm happy that my doubts are being proven wrong. Hopefully once you get a new place and some financial stability afterwards, you can get either a PS3 or 4 and this game.

Leveling is surprisingly hard to do, but thankfully, the game fixed my major gripe from P4 and fixed the damn economy element of the game. Enemies drop money, treasure chests and various items in Palaces contain materials that can be sold for cash, and the part-time job mechanic opens up super early in this game.

It's been really interesting to see the great changes made to the series and I feel like a lot of the dungeon crawling gripes have finally been addressed. I can already see why people are claiming this is the best entry in the series.

Lol, well as I mentioned in the P5 thread, the game definietly has some call backs to P2 which dealt with some darker themes but hid it behind goofy antics, though the Freudian imagery is a lot stronger and more deliberate in this game.

I may still surprise you though...

Also Persona 5 is pretty awesome. It's certainly more mature than previous entries.

Be careful, I would surprise you with what I like and don't like.

Well that's neat. I like when games change the narrative around.

It's battle system pretty much feels like what would happen if Capcom came in to tweak Dark Souls combat for a Devil May Cry game that will never see the light of day. It stripped away some of the customization from Dark Souls, but it's due to wanting the battle system to be more aggressive and active as opposed to Dark Souls "wait and poke" tactics it usually requires you to learn. The gameplay for both is actually fun.

Well there are Wiki-s to give you a rundown for characters. I resorted to a few to fill me in on ME3.

Yeah, I hope you get a chance to play Bloodborne as well. The art and music direction are top notch and I love the story. Of anything, the "Lore Approach" actually works better for giving it a Lovecraftian feel. The lore videos I've found on Youtube are pretty awesome as well.

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas and flesh

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in

Creativity ramble thing

by Fynn on 03-03-2016 at 01:02 PM
You know what I'm tired of?

People saying something must have been "made on drugs".

I mean, it's such an ignorant and dismissive statement that really undermines the creative power of the collective human consciousness. Yes, we can create things that go way beyond what we could normally imagine without the help of drugs, be it through teamwork or by one individual's highly evolved imagination.

The thing about imagination and creativity is that it is effectively
