It's an interesting idea, but I honestly don't think I have the chops for it. I love me some mecha, but I'm hardly as die hard as I might seem at times. Hell just doing that list for you, I discovered a dozen or so shows I should check out for myself, and I realized my knowledge of Super Robot shows is weak.

Yeah we can do some FF related talks unless you had something else in mind.

We'll see. I still have a playthrough of FM3 and 4 I need to finish as well.

Ha, you got farther than I did for my Let's Play, course that goes by slowly since I'm also checking guides and stuff for the walkthrough part.

Nier is hardly what I would call a high octane action game, but I've been spoiled by DMC and more skilled fair like Bloodborne and Sekiro. I never found the combat terribly impressive and I actually preferred playing as 9S since he can hack enemies and turn the gameplay into a bullet hell mini-game which was often way more fun for me to play as. I think you'll be fine.

I'm not terribly sold on Cyber[punk as well, but I also do love the genre, so I figure it will be in my future at some point.

I ended up getting both Heroes of Mana and Front Mission for my DS, so that could be fun sometime down the line.

Oh that's sweet. I have some friends who are trying really hard to get my GF to play Neir:Automata. It was a pretty chill game overall, though I'm not sure if I would say it's as groundbreaking as people give it credit for. Some of its philosophical themes have been covered in better games while the cool story/gameplay integration elements were all done in the original Nier, and frankly in a more profound way I would add.

I'm still on the fence about Cyberpunk 2077. With all the controversy though, I'll likely wait until they release a non-buggy version next year. I still need to pick up a new microphone set for my computer. I've been meaning to buy one I can use to make a demo tape with. My microphone is good, but is a bit too sensitive and likes to pick up too much background noise. My computer is also set up in a less than ideal place for recording, but I'm hoping if I grab one that has some better noise canceller features, I can do a-ok.

    I'll do my best.

I have serious completionist OCD, I hate open world games for that alone. It's why I had to abandon the Assassin's Creed games and Disgaea.

It's been fun so far. Harcore Mecha has been my favorite demo so far, really captures the different style of Giant Robot genres with the first mission being a straight up super robot parody before the main campaign kicks in and it goes real robot. Ocotpath Traveler is a strange hybrid of 16-bit nostalgia combined with the unholy love child of FFV and Romancing SaGa. The more I play it, the more I do feel an FFV or VI remake in the style would be pretty cool.

My main issue at the moment is that I picked up Breath of the Wild yesterday, but I'm trying to avoid it because I have other games to play, and I imagine the game is going to suck me in pretty badly and I still have some things I need to do that require my full attention. lol

I ain't complaining. While I would have preferred the main console, I'm not going to short change a gift and a chance to play a lot of games I've been wanting to check out for awhile. BotW alone will likely make this console worth it, but I've been having fun with Octopath Traveler and I've downloaded a few demos that are giving me more ideas for games to pick up.

Of anything, the system feels like a successor to the 3DS which is a system I loved, so no complaints here. I feel the only real gripe I would have here is that games like BotW and Xenoblade feel like entries that deserve to be experienced on a big screen TV, but at the same time, I feel li a lot of the Switch library lends itself better to mobile gaming like Bloodstained, Hardcore Mecha, and SMTV.

That should work. I feel job class entries work best when you play it loose.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
