Yeah... again. A lot of the fanbase kind of miss the point that the "plot" is a red herring for what the series is really about. The series was the same and I still stand by the fact that the original TV ending was better than End of Evangelion because it basically explained the point of the series better and happened to give the whole cast a relatively happy ending.

Well, thanks for the heads up.

I'm sure you can do it, and I'll be ready when you do!

The Let's Play is just a matter of editing down stuff. I have the pictures, just have to recheck some sources and write the whole thing. The Retrospective got a bit of a boost the other day because I was listening to the Dear Friends Album which reminded me I still need to collect the IV Celtic Moon Album and FFV Dear Friends. Anyway, its coming along nicely though I've already had to skip over a few things for the sake of space. That four article could have been a series before I came to my senses.

Other than that, I got a really good chapter done in my novel. Finally switching from Rebecca rejuvinated the story for me. She's had some great growth in the last few chapters and I feel I have a better idea where her character is going, but now I need to focus on the rest of the cast so I've been spending most of my time building up Janice. I do need to re-arrange some of the conservation in this chapter and finish it, but overall, I'm happy because in addition to finally expanding the world view, I'm finally going to move the plot along. I ended up keeping her in this one location for way too long, and I'm pretty sure a lot of it is going to either be edited down or I'm going to move chapters detailing side characters to later parts of the story so the reader feels like I'm not sidelining the main plot to set up various mysteries. I've got a pacing issue with this current draft.

I beat him through a bit of grinding and a bit of luck. I really felt I tackled him a bit early when I did my initial playthrough.

I just finished an old FFVII save file, and I'm back to working on FFV for the Let's Play and retrospective.

I wiped the floor with Hellwyrm, I feel I waited too long to attempt the fight.

That video has been taunting me in my youtube feed for awhile, so I decided this was fate and finally watched it. Good vid, and I completely agree, hell I would go so far as to say that as early as End of Evangelion, Anno was trying to spell out the fact that most of the lore was a red herring and people were missing the real point of the series which is why so many of the plot revelations in the film are unsatisfactory or mean-spirited in its brutality. I wasn't aware fans hated 3.33 of the Rebuild, but I also don't really talk to other EVA fans much cause even at the height of its popularity I felt a lot of them missed the point and even I kind of got too taken in by the symbolism and directing style. Watching it kind of reminded me of several conversations I've had concerning FFTactics Advance and how people really kind of misinterpreted that titles message.

Back to EVA, I think the other reason why I like the old English cast better may also stem from the fact I've met most of them over the years. I think Alison Keith (Misato) is the only major character I haven't met besides maybe Ritsuko and Kaji's VA. So that may also be why I'm partial to them.

Now that I've had a chance to listen to the new Dub, its kind of blah in places. As cheesy as the original was, and despite the fact it took the actors a few episodes to really get their characters, I feel the ADV dub has a little more personality. Granted, that could just be the nostalgia talking here, as I wasn't too happy with some of the VA changes in the remaster either.

I've been reading a few articles about some of the controversy with the Netflix version, that and chuckling to myself as "new" articles keep popping up about how amazing or overrated the series was. So I almost feel like I'm back in the late 90s early 00s.

It's had like three different dubs by this point, so I don't know why people are whining. I grew up with the original dub, and one of the few anime collector's items I have is the first edition DVD set of Eva that contains that original dub which was practically a collector's item once the first remaster edition came out a few years later and made some controversial changes of its own.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 05:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 12:16 PM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 12:13 PM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 12:57 PM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
