Talk about a baptism by fire! It's good to get balanced criticism, and from the sounds of it, you got about even.

It's been interesting, the game definitely plays favorites though (like most of these games tend to do) so I'm a little sad some series are less represented that others while some series have 70-90% of the cast/mecha available.

Gurren Lagaan was an interesting parody of the Super Robot Genre. I enjoyed it but not to the extent some of my friends do though most of them are not really fans of the genre so perhaps that's where our opinions differ.

So you're first review was pretty brutal was it? Which story did you submit?

Hey Fynn! Hope you're doing well.

I haven't yet started your prompt yet. I'll get around to it. I'm currently writing a poem, but it is slow going. It's pretty subversive: a queer interpretation of the tragedy of Judas Iscariot. It's the first poem I've wrote that has taken longer than a day (much longer, in fact). I'm stuck over a few lines. Hopefully get it done by tomorrow!

    Ooh nice.

one was super nice and positive, one was kinda mixed, and one was very critical.
    Sounds perfect

I do think 'show don't tell' is still important for first person narratives, albeit maybe not in the conventional way. It's great if the reader can infer something about the characters and their relationships simply by the way they narrate and interact. That being said I think you actually do a pretty decent job at that.

But yeah, this seems like a good way to get some valuable critical feedback. Good luck ^^

It's Dynasty Warriors, if you've played one, you've played them all. Basically take an RPG, remove any good plot and engaging boss battles and you are basically left with just grinding. That's the series in a nutshell. It's fun more for the fanboy aspect. Not a great game but it is kind of cool to pick out a favorite Gundam and just mow down hordes of enemies with it.

The game is basically Dissidia with the different characters across the franchise all being tossed together in a world. The only aspect that's kind of interesting is that the heroes don't necessarily trust each other and some of the villains are able to make inroads if their corresponding hero isn't there.

For instance, imagine playing through Dissidia where Firion wasn't there and Emperor Mateus was teamed up with Barts and Zidane to "help them". So that angle is kind of amusing.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 05:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 12:16 PM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 12:13 PM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 12:57 PM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
