I reached Dharma and changed my Warrior into a Dealer so I could both get their useful skills and also to even out her stats a bit. Having most of my party being woman is really useful since I have the Garter Belt accessory which gives them the Sexy Personality. That personality gives you the best stat growth in the game. Once she gets to lv. 20, I plan on switching her to Thief to finally raise up her Agi and Luck as quickly as possibly before I plan on switching her back to Warrior for endgame. The Thief skills will also be useful in the long run as well. Though I must say that I'm really digging the Dealers ability to find Gold randomly in battle and raise enemy drop rates.

My male hero is using a rosary to give him a Romantic personality to finally build up his lackluster Int. and Agi, stats. I'm debating about just permanently changing his personality to Smart with one of the books, but Valiant is still a pretty awesome base personality in terms of just raw strength. I may have to pick up the ship and head to the Pirates Den just so I can grab the Punk Ring and get access to the Solitary Personality type since it will probably give him the best stat growth I can until I find either the Gold Necklace or the Gold Beak to get the Lewd or Lucky personality types.

My Cleric and Mage are going to stay in their respective classes until around Lv. 24 by which point the Mage will learn Twinhits and Boom, while my Cleric will learn Vivify. After that, I may switch them to Warrior and Fighter respectively. I'll then switch them both to Jesters and finally to the Sage class.

Not too bad, I'm almost to Dharma Temple, which is when my job class changing shenanigans will begin. I'm in DQ India currently trying to get Pepper so I can finally have a ship.

Switching gears, I've also been replaying Dragon Quest III between my horror marathon.

Hopefully we can see some change, but I also feel the ease of building fetch quests will stick around for awhile simply because they are easy to implement. Personally, I just wish FF would go back to more creative side-quests.

If I had to make an educated guest, it was a combination of Bethesda's Elder Scrolls/Fallout 3 in the West, while for Japan, it was likely Monster Hunter. I also wouldn't be surprised if MMO's like FFXI and WoW didn't play a huge part in all of this as well. But yeah, this is a weird gaming trend that kicked off in the mid 00s and has sadly stayed for some reason or another whereas more interesting side quests have greatly diminished over time. I imagine it's simply because these fetch quest style quests are just easy to program for and people mistake quantity for quality.

It's always fun when you discover those type of connections. My favorite dub of Castle of Caliagstro has Lupin III played by a young David Hayter. Interesting to hear a non-gruff Solid Snake trying to play a gentlemen thief.

I'm not sure if my story is even scary. More depressing than anything if I'm going to be honest. I've been learning that I don't really scare that easily. I think I'm going more for a SH2 vibe of just feeling overwhelming oppressed and drowned in negativity than actually scary.

I'll get back to the Mognet Message to answer your questions soon. The last few weeks have been a little crazy for me.

Lol, its understandable. I've dabbled in some Amnesia the Dark Descent which has been interesting despite being pretty simplistic. I have my PS2 hooked back up, but my mind is too occupied with other things to start up SH3.

I have a story I may submit that I had planned on doing for a contest last month. It needs a bit of rewrite because it starting going into a direction I didn't care for. The story wants to be longer, but I keep feeling like it's at odds with what I'm trying to do. I had a similar issue with the "I Think..." story I submitted two years ago. They want to be longer but it's murdering the pacing and tension.

That's intriguing, I'll definitely try to keep an eye out the next time the game is on sale along with Baldur's Gate.

Currently, I'm trying to get myself into the Halloween zone for gaming, but too many rl things are distracting me.

That does help. I didn't realize I made my thread in the wrong forum, but I'm excited to start playing a few of these games. Unlike previous years, I didn't jump into my spooky gaming mood in September, so I feel I have a better chance of getting some things done this month.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 05:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 12:16 PM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 12:13 PM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 12:57 PM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
