I just wanted to post that so people can think about that aspect more as well, but I just wanted to say it wasn't a jab at you or anything and it was very kind of you. Didn't mean to be negative nancy in your thread! ~Controversial opinion~ but I feel we should instead make an effort to honour more women and minorities in everyday society for their accomplishments instead of having a segregated woman's day, but the message is a step in the right direction towards acknowledging that women do things and deserve praise for them like men do

Troll sounds about right. Regarding quotas and stuff I make it a point to avoid that kind of thinking myself. I don't want to get hung up on perceived negatives and blind myself to positives.

I think it's an important distinction to make at times, especially with characters like Snow who are very often disliked for their personality rather than their position as a character. I do think Snow in the context of FF XIII had a nice message about what baseless optimism and idealism can do to a group of pessimistic and cynical people, both positive and negative. But then again that's just conceptual, the execution is, well... improvable.

Okay never mind then, looks like our stance is pretty similar then after all =P I realized that the way I described my own stance was also too one-sided especially regarding characters like Enoshima who was just incredibly enjoyable to watch despite... well as you said. I guess I'm just more forgiving, that's all. I still enjoy Yuffie for what she is.

Probably the main reason why I read charage visual novels. They're pretty good at that most of the time.

Heh heh, I just realized when you wrote about how you judge characters, I *do* look at characters the same way I look at people, which is probably why I've never had a character I outright disliked. At least as long as my suspension of disbelief doesn't fall apart.

I have always identified with Fox Mulder, so good choice.
