I can't decide what I'm in the mood for, haha. We'll see when I get to that point though. I'll probably do Digital Devil Saga just because I'll probably be in the mood for something slightly more forgiving and more of a story focus. I just really enjoyed the atmosphere of Nocturne for the bit I played. I did end up grinding to a halt just because of the difficulty at some point. I think it was Matador I was fighting that I was struggling with? It's been a while so I could be wrong on the name.

I guess there is SMT IV as well, but I'm in more of a console mood at the moment. Never fear though, I will be in a handheld mood soon enough again. I switch between the two pretty frequently.

I really like how the other games in the XIII trilogy remembered how to be a game. I wish they could have put those mechanics into a game unrelated to the XIII series though as the world already overstayed it's welcome in the first game. It's sad because the overall world and lore has some interesting concepts that were either underutilized or just poorly explored. The battle system even has a great concept that just doesn't come together very well. Too many almost good ideas that were put together poorly to make something pretty terrible.

Which do you think I should go with: Nocturne or Digital Devil Saga? I've played a bit of Nocturne and quite like it despite the fact I'm not too good at it. I haven't ever touched Digital Devil Saga though.

It makes sense from a story perspective somewhat... but then again it doesn't. They started in the middle of the action, but couldn't they have started a little closer to the point where you get abilities? Couldn't they have had battles actually have meaning in getting you CP to at least bolster your stats? They could have even given you a class at the beginning that doesn't have to be based on abilities like Chemist, Thief, etc etc. Blegh.

I think I'm going to start going through some MegaTen games after this though. I own a bunch and I still have only really played through Persona 1, 2 IS, 3, and 4. I've never beat anything in the main series or the other spinoffs.

Yeah most of Capcom's real talent went to Clover. I think Inafune and the creator of Monster Hunter were the lone holdouts.

Same here, I like action games but I'm pretty picky on the type and style of them.

Yeah the creator of DMC went with Clover which is now Platinum Games.

Wasn't interested to be honest. I don't have the time for heavy handed action games anymore. I hear good things about it, but I've only played a demo of the first game and it was not terribly memorable for me.

So we totes dropped the editor ball when you left and none of us are picking it back up xD I've been hella busy. Things keep breaking around my house/cars/everything, dunno about everyone else lol

Yeah, GoW is a bit of a male power fantasy on the bad end. The puzzles in the game are okay but the combat was pretty slow and lame for me.

I don't know why I actually was in the mood to play through FF XIII again, but I've decided to revisit the game as a means to reevaluate my opinion of it and then play through the vastly more fun to play sequels. I'm enjoying it more than I thought, but most of my opinion stays the same. That first few hours is such a painful slog to get through before you even have any abilities or anything.
