Not much, went to my annual anime convention, reconnected with a few college friends. Still working on the comic book idea with my coworker, especially since some management changes within the company has given us more reason to get the hell out of there.

Other than that, I've been power playing my way through the Secret of Mana remake, which finally inspired me to boot up Seiken Densetsu 3, which I started the other night. I'm also thinking of revisiting my perfect playthrough run of Legend of Mana. So... a lot of Mana and super hero comics.

    How about you?

Yeah I remember being quite impressed by the range of Edgar Allen Poe when I read one of his compilation books.

Glad to hear you're still thinking about the novel, but being unable to pen anything is understandable at the moment.

Yeah, all the heavy activity people are gone except Jinx and maybee. Though I'm sure most of the forum simply moved to Discord which is a little more active.

Sorry to hear you're in a slump. I'm kind of having a similar but opposite issue. I've got a ton of projects I want to work on, but can't stay focused on one long enough to make any significant headway. I've got a Spider-Man story I'm collaborating on with a co-worker cause we're hoping to submit it to Marvel. A short story idea I'm submitting for a Horror Short Story contest and will likely submit for the forum Halloween contest as well. About three longer novels I wish to work on as well, and then I'm fixing up a poem I wrote for one of the writing prompts we used to do that I didn't submit because it needed a lot of work.

Sailor Drops simply works due to the Tetris style phenomena and because it really epitomizes the idea of pick and play, whereas I get to involved with RPGs top play them like that which is why games like DQIX and the FFTA series tend to burn me out faster than typical RPGs due to the focus on combat and grinding. Granted, I throw Terra Battle into this same camp cause I go through phases where I play it all the time to not touching it for six months. Record Keeper and Pokemon GO both burned me out.

That's fair, I haven't even tried the original FF Dimensions myself. I just have issues staying committed to more involved titles on my phone. I probably play the Candy Crush knockoff Sailor Moon Drops more than any other mobile titles with the exception of Terra Battle 1.

Very true, though Cross was so insulkar, it would be hard to figure out where to go from it outside of the basic alternate timeline spiel. It wasn't helped that while Cross tied up most of it's story threads it created new ones for the Trigger cast, which is why most people cling to them getting focus in a third game. Allegedly, one of the directors said the plot of FF Dimensions 2 was built from the original early concepts for Chrono Break.

Ooh, I may have to check that out. You should see this.

Never noticed the sex thing, though now that I think about it, I feel Suikoden III followed the same pattern as well.

Yeah, it's the human conflict part of Suikoden which makes it special. I mean the True Runes are cool, but they're really a means to an end that often take a backseat to the politics and scheming. III and IV are probably the only entries where the True Rune plays a huge role in the overall story. In V, it's back to being a MacGuffin that takes backstage to the rivalries and political in-fighting.

The entire Dunana Unification War could had been avoided if a lot of people stopped being stupid, but yeah, it was sad to see Anabelle go, especially since she was the only sensible member of the City States. I think only Theresa of Greenhill has a decent head on her shoulder.

I'm sure you'll do fine, though good luck with the sleeping part.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
