It has one of the more tedious bosses in the series and the final boss battle is certainly a nastier challenge. Mainly it powers down a few Persona, locks the all-powerful Lucifer/Satan personas behind NG+, drops most of the mid-tier upgrade persona forcing you to have to use the Velvet Room. On the other hand, it also makes it slightly easier to obtain Fool Cards, offers better replayability, has just as many fun game secrets as the first one, and expands the conversation system with more duo/triple, and group conversation options. I don't know which is more entertaining, watching Katsuya and Baofu argue over Japanese Baseball teams, or Ulala flamenco dancing with classic and electric guitar accompaniment by the Suou Brothers.

For me, it's more of a sense of discovery with the Personas and fusion spells. I actually drop most Personas once I obtain all their spells and mutation. I don't think I even used the Ultimate Personas to beat the game. Course you're also getting to the point where the bosses are going to stop being push overs. I always felt like P2 had difficulty spikes, and so every time the game started to feel too repetitive, then the difficulty seemed to ramp up. course being a vet of the franchise and not making rookie mistakes like holding onto weak personas or knowing what you need to do to unlock the Custom Starters is probably helping you make the game feel tedious.

Though to be fair, the Ultimate Personas in IS are stronger than the ones you get in EP, but since you can actually use spell cards with them, they are more versatile. Also, Maya is the only character who receives a Custom Starter, so you're not going to have a mid-game upgrade in EP like you did in IS. You're going to have real fun with the Old Maid Joker Card move every boss seems to know in EP...

No. I played some of the first one (it didn't age well, so I didn't come close to finishing). But I never played the second one.

If they ever actually released them together in the West...

It is glorious, but you get something cool in Nanjou's route as well but I don't really want to spoil it for you.

Possibly, but I tend to always think about major choices down the line as well. I see nothing wrong here. I'd say go with Nanjou since you like him more.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
