In 3D news, I have finished Hunchback world. I like the Gargoyle Dream Eater boss. The section where he chases after Riku on the castle walls reminds me of Demon's Souls, just with no friendly fire, and way less death.

It has been a bit rough playing this after DMC4 though. I keep trying to jump kick off walls with a double tap of the jump button unlike the complicated nonsense with flowmotion. Don't get me wrong, I like flowmotion but it's hilarious how much it trivializes the movement skills in this game. I got an air dash move and was curious as to why I would need it. I really dislike the button prompt for reality shifts. Sadly this game pulls a DMC1/MGS:Peace Walker and instead of getting you the option to map the controls, you just have to pick through some pre-selected ones that are usually worse than the default. The issue is that RS are activated by pressing triangle and circle button simultaneously and it's not always as intuitive as I would like.

True but it just feels awkward. I'm sure if I spent more time with it I would get used to it, but the demo didn't impress me too much. Not helped by the fact I don't have the nostalgia for KH music like most fans do.

It's just weird because it's trying to be a rhythm game while also trying to still be an action game. It's a bit like Cadence of Hyrule in that regard but more jarring to me.

I dealt with him how I deal with all spambots without a smoking gun

I honestly wished MoM was more like TheaterRhythm. Its less intuitive than I would like.

I think it's too weird even for some of the hardcore fans. The demo was a bit weird.

I've reached the Hunchback world in 3D for both characters. Finally got some better item drops and I'm finally playing with some different DEs. Sora is rocking the Dog Cat, a snake with feet, and a flower. Riku has a Ram, the snake thing, and the Bat. I think the most obnoxious part of the DEs is how some of their skills are hidden behind specific personality traits. It was neat the first time around, now I just don't want to switch out any of my mons in case I can shift their personality to learn more skills. I also hope to get some of Riku's personal moves, and I hope Sora's actually start improving because Spark is a lousy spell.

The tropes page makes it sound so interesting.

I also find it amusing that the Master of Masters Theme from KH3 sounds like a Bloodborne boss theme.

I'm kind of hoping that whenever it finishes, Nomra might be willing to either make a shorter version that cuts out all the filler for a new KH collection when KH4 comes out in 2040, or maybe do a remake that changes it to a more traditional entry.

I don't dislike the DE but I can see why they are frustrating for most. My biggest gripe is how you have to craft them. I'd rather have a catching mechanic or something simpler.

The first good problem I'm having with 3D is that it makes me want to replay TWEWY. Love those characters.

I'm getting used to petting characters but I'm annoyed that they used the central pad for the pet games. That thing is nowhere near as precise as a bottom screen for a DS/3DS and it shows with things like the balloon game.

I'm also being reminded about how annoying I find Union X/chi for being incredibly interesting but terribly told due to its nature as a mobile game.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 05:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 12:16 PM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 12:13 PM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 12:57 PM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
