That's one way of looking at it.

Cause you'll actually start writing again?

You're going to be so sad when it's all over.

Yeah its pretty neat, while the mechanics don't change much, the dynamics are changed based on the story. The reason they are not called social links is because none of these people are truly your friend as much as they are your accomplice in your endeavors. The game is far more plot driven than the slice of life titles of past. You don't get as much free time to rank everyone up, but they do rank up faster and one confidant teaches skills to help rank the others up even faster.

The two biggest differences between P5 and its predecessors, and I didn't really notice until your question made me think of it, is the fact the game takes advantage of the idea that your character is a delinquent and thus he's more assertive.

Unlike the older games where the girl confesses their opinions and you either accept or reject, they simply drop a line saying they're open to the idea and its up to you to pursue it with your options, thus the MC feels like he's the one pushing for the relationship. Its subtle but kind of nice.

The bigger change is the fact the game deals with more taboo relationships. You can date four girls your own age. One who is underaged (consensual in Japan but would easily get your ass thrown in prison in the U.S. and parts of Europe. The other half of your options are all older than you and would probably get thrown in prison for dating a high school student since most of them are career people. The subject comes up a bit in the confidant links but since I've only played through the game once so far, I can't really tell you how it plays out for all of them.

You do get the option to cheat on the girls and date multiples again like in P3, but unlike P3, there is a special event during the true ending where they will find out about each other. You get a special scene if you date all of the girls in the game where they beat the trout out of you for being a two-timer.

Some obsessions can be healthy. I had a similar experience turning down the Drama Club Sun Arcana in P4. I was really invested in her story, but kind of already had another character in mind to date, so when the sequence at the end of her social link happens concerning her wanting to date you happened, it was just so awkward and I kind of felt bad ditching a girl whose estranged dad was dying.

For now, I haven't done enough research into add-ons and expansions done by the community or the developers. I'm probably going to build a few versions, just to get the hang of the basics before adding on too many options.

That's cool, I always like when games throw in events that are still playable but have nothing to do with fighting.

That's fine, as long as you like the idea and feel it will work best, I say go for it.

If I can ever get the event scenario to work how I want and finish building the locations, I'll certainly recruit you as a play tester. I'm using some in-game stuff for music at the moment, but once I get the main event going, I'll play around with music.

So far, the most interesting part for me has been building the characters because while I have an idea in my head what they look like, it was quite the challenge to make it a reality with the meager options I have with the game kit. Still, it's kind of nice to have a concrete image of some of the cast. It even persuaded me to push the scenario a bit further just so I could add a few more characters. Its going to take some time though, as my inability to build convincing indoor buildings is pretty obvious.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas and flesh

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
