Yeah, barring the mind blowing nature of P3 when it first came out, I'm feeling like Persona 5 may haven beaten it as my favorite in the series. It feels like a perfect marriage between Persona 2 and the newer entries.

Yeah, I'm holding off on writing up a list right now because I'm pretty sure P5 is going to make it onto it.

Well Witcher 3 did rank like number 4 or 5 on Game Informer's top 100 RPGs.

I hate myself, Fynn. I hate being different. I hate the argumentation. I hate the stress. I despise my life. I just want all the nonsense to go away.

I constantly make myself unwelcome, huh?

Outside of the opening theme, I did my best not to listen to anything until I started playing.

I also don't think there is a single social link that I don't find interesting, and I'm liking how the game is subverting expectations with this game. Emperor, Temperance, and Death are easily my favorites so far. I'm also surprised because I'm in July and I only have three more Confidants to acquire if the game is going by the traditional mode of things. I know where one of them is, but he's locked behind my social stats being too low, the other two are story characters I still haven't met yet, but the plot is starting to hint to them. The way the system works in this game, it's so much harder to figure out how to spend your time, which is probably why more of them raise social stats, in addition to regular social stat raising activities now raising multiple stats instead of just one.

I hear that. The interesting thing about the narrative (well there are a lot of things, but I dare not spoil it for you) is that it kind of combines the flow of both P3 and P4. Like P4, the scenarios are very episodic with a certain "routine" that has to be done before completing the story mission, but unlike P4, the story actually feels like it's going somewhere and the stakes are being raised with each "episode" which is closer to P3.

It also has more of the oppressive and negative feel of P3's story. Your party is pretty chummy like P4, but the game drops the slice of life feel from P4. It also has P3's way of making everything flow into each other. The confidants work well with the story premise and the central themes are much stronger and more cleverly integrated into the mechanics. The Confidants actually feel like they serve a purpose narratively in this game as opposed to P4's "hey let's bring back that popular element from P3 and make it better" shlick.

Also the soundtrack is more jazz and 70s influcence. The track that plays for Evening time is just gold, and I'm now understanding all of the youtube memes using the battle theme, because it's just as much as an earworm as P3's battle theme.

Not much to say, Persona 5 has consumed my life, and I feel the changes it made has reflected on things I didn't like about P4, even things I didn't realize annoyed me until P5 came in and changed it for the better. This game is kind of the anti-P4.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
