I've been in the mood to finish my KH playthrough so I can finally get around to KHIII. Course this means I now have to play through 3D since it's the next entry on my list.

You should do a bit more of an overview of the games so far honestly. I think people would enjoy reading it.

I know. I did purchase a stand for my mic to make recording way easier. I want to work on a voice demo and maybe do some recordings. I just want to feel like I'm doing something productive for myself.

That could work. I've been replaying VI myself for the retrospective. Using a translation recommended by an official translator who did a blog about the VI translation. I also plan on avoiding my usual munchkin traits and just bum rush my way through the game like I would have when I played it for the first time.

I need to get back to my writing, I'm just feeling too down in the dumps to concentrate on it. I keep wanting to distract myself instead.

I find I play different genres for different things. I like my action games and fighters when I need a rush, I play RPGs or puzzle games more often for relaxation.

I mean you have been hitting it at a fast pace. You blew through the SNES entries at break neck speeds if you ask me.

I've yet to get around to Bayonetta. Funny enough, the director of the game said he was taking cliff notes from DMC4. But yeah, I need that high skill, high reward feedback from the gameplay in order to enjoy it. It's what has been missing from a lot of ARPGs I play minus From Software's titles. Like it's amusing to me that I hated how tanky enemies are in VIIR but I don't seem to care in DMC4 because the combat has enough variety and a steep learning curve to make it fun that enemies can take a beating just so you can try out different combos. Most ARPGs just don't offer that high skill level and the very few that do usually turn out to be too easy and send you down complacent road.

Finally playing through DMC4 I can honestly say I now remember why I don't like Action-RPGs because their combat is trout compared to a real good action game.

Figured you would appreciate something like this. I don't necessarily agree with all of the categories placements though...

Yeah the quality was questionable but the best one could hope for with an aged cassette tape.

Found this and thought you would be interested. It's a promo video for Chrono Trigger in Japan that was ripped from a VHS copy. The thing you might find the most interesting is that it uses early builds of the music tracks used in the game. A few fans speculate it's the original versions before being converted into the game's sound font.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 05:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 12:16 PM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 12:13 PM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 12:57 PM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
