It's different when it's your own spawn from what I've heard.

Congratulations and good luck with that.

    No worries.

Yeah. he's a late comer, but his legacy lives on in the sequels. He returns in SII where he's still just for Army Battles but in Suikoden III you get to meet his grandson, in SIV you meet his ancestor, and in SV you get to meet Isabel and Mathias, two of his former knights who love to help the prince to "decapitate evil and bury them in the nearest body of water". They're a fun crew.

You'll have to send me the list.

For the most part, Unite abilities are more important in the sequels, though Tir and Kai's are easily the best one in this game for dealing with groups. Viktor is one of my favorite characters in the franchise and I really wished he made a cameo in Suikoden III cause old man Vik would have been fun to have around. Soul Eater is my favorite rune as well, and is one of the most popular in the franchise. It's a gamebreaker in every entry it's appeared in, and it's likely the most popular rune in the franchise of the True Runes. My final team was Tir, Flik, Viktor, Pesmerga, Clive, and Luc. Though honestly, there are so many great characters in these games it's annoying being relegated to just a handful because I love Valerie, Kasumi, Humphrey, and Milich. I do wish Maximillian was playable, but alas, I'll just have to settle for his grandson in SIII, and one of his crazy supporters in SV.

Well when the idea is ambitious, the process can be slow at times. I've been bouncing back and forth between three different stories. I'm trying to get Waiting finished by the end of the month. I won't be able to have it prepped well enough to enter it in a contest but I may actually just send the idea to a publisher instead.

Congratulations on beating Suikoden 1, so who were your favorite team members, Runes, Unite Attack, and moments? Yeah, SII is a massive leap over Suikoden 1 in just about every way. Have fun with the special save data bonus.

There is a girl with a Gryphon in a small village near Greenhill I believe, you need to recruit her to get the Gryphon as both count, but you'll need to use one of Badeaux's listening crystals. He gives you two for recruiting him which will allow you to recruit two of five Large Monster characters. If you need an easy guide I'd use this:

Suikoden II Recruitment Guide from Suikosource

Luc is a mage character as you've already likely surmised, and all the mages are stuck with S type weapons so it's better to throw them in the back row and let their magic do the talking. Of the elemental runes, Earth is the worst while Wind might be the best since it has both offensive, defensive, and healing based spells. Kai starts off higher level but the rest of the cast will catch up in no time and you'll soon learn he's actually got middling stats. His best attribute is that he has the best Unite Attack in the game for dealing with trash mobs and it's with the main character. I'm psyched cause you're about to meet one of my favorite ladies in Suikoden, Valerie and the iconic Falcon Rune.

Yeah, I'm just trying to keep the momentum going at this point which is why I switched to a different story or two. I may have you beta read The Forest redo I'm almost finished with. As for your story, I would go with witch, cause medium/paranormal investigator is kind of overdone at this point.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it. Who have you been liking so far?

I have sadly slowed down work on the story I should probably be finishing, but I blame it on being inspired to work on other projects. I'm almost finish rewriting a piece I did in college and submitted one year for the Halloween contest here. I'm thinking of submitting the new version for a magazine, but then I started going back to an old idea I jotted down the concept for and never got around to writing. Like the closest thing I would ever do that could be considered a "zombie story" but a twist I feel you would appreciate. I may submit this story for publication purchases instead because I feel it's the closest thing I've written to a true horror story. Other than that, I'm dabbling with older story ideas. I have a document I use to chronicle story ideas I come up with at random to work on for later. So I've been reading through it and seeing if any of those ideas struck a chord with me. I'll probably get back to Waiting soonish. It's a rough piece for me to write cause the story comes from a personal place, so I probably needed to take a break from it to recharge.

Glad to hear you're Bible is going well, and yay to new story ideas! Maybe you should use this short story for the Halloween contest?

That's good, cause trying to get the Mangosh and Earth Rune Pieces is painful. Thankfully some of the later drops are manageable but those two, jeez.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
