Yeah, since it's the complete Seekers set it's a pretty good bargain at $11.

I might. XI actually just went on sale today for the whole collection on Steam and I am slightly tempted since I doubt I could reinstall the copy I have based on it being built for Windows XP. Yeah, I was doing some research on some of the high profile Ivalice team members and more or less discovered the majority of them got absorbed into the XIV team.

Also, with all the things I've read up on about XIV and XVI, I think it's safe to say that the Ivalice team has been merged with the XIV team.

VIII ic ould agree with, not so much IX. I need my Chocobo Hot n' Cold. Yeah VIII's world map feels underutilized despite the fact that with things like the PuPu quest and hidden draw points, there is a lot going on there. Honestly, I've never really understood the aversion to World Maps by SE. I get at first it was them just trying to reach a technical bench mark for a seamless world, but I don't feel there is anything mechanically wrong with a world map.

As for VIIR, we'll see. The lack of a map worked because the game was restricted to Midgar, but one of the best moments in the game was leaving it and finding a larger world beyond. I don't see how they'll pull that off with Episode 2. Likewise, we could have gotten most of the first disc in Episode 1 if they hadn't kept needlessly padding the game.

I feel they could get it to work, but oddly enough they really changed it for the VIIR with Cloud talking to himself. Who knows. I do feel an action rpg combat system would work better for VIII's Junction system.

I think VIII would work well with one. I hink the hard part would be coming up with a good way to do Squall's inner monologues.

The issue I find with most guides these days is they mostly reference the DS version. A lot of my assessment comes from trying to remember my playthrough. I even went back to some old screenshots to see what I was rolling with.

For the final stretch up until needing to fight Bahamut and tackling Eureka, my team was Two Dark Knights, a Knight, and a white mage. I actually used a full team of Black Belt's to conquer Eureka, and then I used the Ninja/Sage combo for the Crystal Tower and World of Darkness.

For the section you were in though, I actually didn't have a dedicated healer and rolled with a number of team builds just to see what the classes can do. I know I dropped Geomancer fairly quickly just because Backfire is a pain in the ass. Yet I used an Evoker and Bard a bit longer than I expected. I also used a Dragoon for quite awhile until I reached Falgabard and access to the awesome Dark Swords.

I opted for the classic. Other jobs are viable but you'll need to grind some HP for the classes and possibly be a higher level. Flarewave is a beast of an attack so having two healers and two people doing max damage every round is the best strategy, which is why the Ninja/Sage combo is popular. I think Evastio showed an alternate team build you can use, but again, I think he stressed you need to push that HP up high if you want to make it work. Considering the DS version of the two classes are nowhere near as good as their NES counterparts, I'd just play with them and save yourself the headache.

I was Lv. 53 going into Crystal Tower when I finished the game. I imagine my team was close Lv. 55-56 when I beat Cloud of Darkness.

I always come back to the idea of getting a Pink Tail every playthrough, though for me, I'd likely just get one and call it good. I don't see the point in grinding five sets. Even the Onion Gear in IVDS, I gave up fairly quickly.

The nice things about FEOK though is their is an equipment glitch in the original that allows you to change a starting item into any item you want, including the Onion Gear. Takes way less time than grinding the dragons. Leveling is also super easy in this game by the end. Just go to Bahamut's Lair with a team of Blackbelt's and grind away.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 05:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 12:16 PM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 12:13 PM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 12:57 PM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
