It's been a slow but consistent process so far. I'm actually amazed how consistent I've been on working on it as well as not really straying too far from my initial idea for the short. Once I finish it, I may MM it to you to see how you feel.

The interesting challenge for me is that most of the story is a flashback so the characters I'm writing are pretty different from the ones in the stories actual present setting, so trying to convey that sense of youth while also keeping them tied to their future selves has been interesting. Also, I seriously need practice writing children characters it seems.

Hope your novel is doing well, I know this can be a stressful time of year.

I've always had a thing for older women, so I've never really understood this mentality.

My short story is coming along nicely. I think I'm doing this really more for myself than my collaborator because I'm still trying to find my characters voice. Technically she's the opposite of the person she's replacing in terms of disposition and characterization, so it's not like I can ape the old style. So writing this as a short story from her perspective is forcing me to come up with how she thinks.

I had a coworker unfamiliar with Japanese media watch that with me and she was weirded out, I told her the video is trying to hide the fact that Utada is likely in her thirties in this video and has to distract people from that, because Japan has an even worse reputation about discarding older female entertainers than the West does. I feel she's really cute in the video though.

I might take you up on that offer. I have a short story I'm writing that I'm hoping will inspire my artist to get more motivated. I've learned with collaborative works, it helps if both parties can keep each other motivated. I'm super excited for the project but I often feel my artists interests ebbs and flows. So I've been trying to keep her informed with my ideas and background info to keep her motivated.

I don't know, I find it exciting when characters start to surprise me during the writing process. My main character in my book is like that. She started off kind of ho-hum and she constantly surprises me now. She's far less heroic than I first imagined she would be. She gets a damn criminal record for crying out loud and has no problem exploiting her powers for personal gain.

I don't mind spoilers to be honest, so feel free to mognet message me if you want to go over bigger details. Also, I found this I felt you would enjoy it since you've likely been listening to a bit of her this week.

Yeah it's been a big help, I keep treating this comic more like a film with entire sequences I hope to have planned out to certain songs, but my artist feels game. I just need her to focus on getting started. She gets easily distracted, meanwhile I've been utterly obsessed with this project for over a month.

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time translating characters to page. Course that's almost always my problem as I often feel the characters are more interesting in my head than when I write them down. My artist complained my dialogue is really stiff and too formal, which is a bad habit of mine.

That's good, I just picked 4 Heroes of Light back again. I'm so close to the end that even though I've forgotten a lot of things, I feel I'll just read the wiki to get me back up to speed than start over.

Most of my time has been doing a small side project for my comic. My main character listens to her dad's old iPod and has a playlist she listens to, so I've been constructing that playlist on YouTube to help with character themes I'm using to help write the characters and scenes. Helps explain the feel of certain scenes I want to do. It's been really fun and the list is close to 400 songs as of today...

It's understandable but awesome job just staying motivated and getting stuff on paper! What have you been playing?

Not bad, been working on my comic script and I just finished a playthrough of Dark Souls 3. How have you been?

Yeah, I started listening to it a few days ago.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 05:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 12:16 PM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 12:13 PM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 12:57 PM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
