Well that's good, I'm still sad the actual CCG never really left Japan. Triple Triad was that type of game that was easy to leanr, difficult to master.

I wish more of the games had third person battles. It seems so small a thing, but it really does make it hard for me to play the mainline series. I was actually kind of enjoy Nocturne, but I didn't have a really great way to play it when I borrowed it (my TV and consoles were very inaccessible).

It's all about the Triple Triad.

I dunno. Maybe you're right. There just seems to be so much of this stuff. It's so overwhelming sometimes. I just want to hide out and play video games.

When will they make a handheld port of Nocturne?

Sure. And Berkeley is one thing. And Middlebury is just one thing...
This isn't just one thing. It's affecting most of the universities across the country.

But this sort of thing is being taught at colleges, Fynn. Colleges that my kids may one day have to go to. These people are graduating. They're going to be lawyers and lawmakers, and they think it's okay to ban people for their skin color! They think it's okay to make death threats, to barricade the police inside their own offices, and make demands of the college president because someone is refusing to enforce segregation!

What is going on, Fynn. What the hell is wrong with this world?! Is it just me? Am I absolutely smurfing insane? Am I missing some great cosmic joke or something?

Yep, she's been a bit better now that she's no longer the story focus, but there is a part of me that feels like the devs made her specifically to get the hardcore otaku all hot and bothered. Though I give her props for having a Lovecraft-inspired Persona, which we haven't seen since P2.

With all that said, I'm in September and the game still finds new ways to surprise me.

I think I may have finally found the first character in the game I don't like, which is a bit hilarious because the fanbase adores her, so yay for me for disliking what's popular once again I guess. To be fair, she simply turns me off because she's like four different fetishistic anime tropes rolled into one.

Sadly, I'm not the type of person who feels like investing in seven novels. I enjoy writing fiction, but not so much reading it. I tend to gravitate towards technical manuals or historical non-fiction.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
