Hey, every lit bit helps if you ask me. I've been jumping back and forth between brainstorming ideas for three different stories I'm writing. My new one is just in the phase where I'm jotting out ideas for it, I kind of came back to the Destroyer storyline, and of course Soul is never far behind in my mind.

I've also really want to replay Legend of Mana for some reason.

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid another Portal incident where I felt like it was a pretty damn good game, but a bit baffled by why so many praise it like it was the Holy Grail.

SaGa's strong points have largely been there eccentric gameplay mechanics which feel really refreshing after kind of getting bored with more conventional game mechanics. I started appreciating SF2's mechanics more once I realized the game was like Vagrant Story in the fact that nothing is ever explained to you and yet the game mechanics are surprisingly complex and in-depth. I've given up on acquiring some of the major elements in the game cause it's too late, but I'm not so put off that I wouldn't play it again later. It's turned out to be surprisingly charming.

It will likely be sometime until I play it, so I'm sure the praise won't bother me as much. I think that's why I'm kind of putting off Undertale because I hear all these great things and yet what I've played of it isn't all that impressive to me, but I think I'm letting the hype get to me.

On the flip side, I often don't hear good things about the SaGa series, so I'm being delightfully surprised by the games I've been playing so far.

That's good to know. Glad you end up enjoying BotW so much. Gives me good vibes about whenever I get a chance to play it.

Lol, well this one is not likely to be started soon. I'm moving back to my main novel, but this idea was interesting so I was jotting down some ideas for it at the moment.

I'm getting pretty close to the end of two of my SaGa games I'm playing, so I'm hoping my productivity kicks in as well.

The extinction issue for humans has to do with the twist in the story. I can explain it to you if you wish.

I might scale it back a bit just for my own sanity, but the most interesting part for me will be dealing with a large cast of non-human people and trying to develop their cultures. I imagine I will be drawing historical inspiration for many of them though. I know that the fish people will be having a conflict about whether to expand their empire beyond their waters, The Lizard/Reptile clan is at war with the Insect clan, and I'm thinking the Bird/Beast clans are dealing with overpopulation and possibly global weather changes. Humans will likely be dealing with avoiding extinction.

Yeah, still relatively early in the planning stage. The short story one is the farthest along since it will likely read like a Twilight Zone episode. The larger story is going to take a little planning cause it will be a larger scale. It's going to be a perspective story with multiple POV characters within the same world, but there is a twist that won't become apparent to the reader until much further into the story. While it might be a longer piece, I want to keep it as one self contained story, though I haven't quite figured out how the story is going to end yet.

The story will have multiple races and the POV will detail the leads showing off their own unique cultures and conflicts. The hard part will be fleshing out these cultures and conflicts cause I'm going to avoid usual fantasy tropes and have all of them have their own distinct languages and calendar systems.

How far along on are you on your first draft?

    That's good at least.

So I just came up with another interesting novel idea, technically two though the premise is basically the same with the context changing. That and one is probably only good enough to be a short story while the other can be written into a fantasy epic. The best part about the second one is that I get to capitalize on the Bird People I dropped from the last story.

So how is your writing doing?

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
