We do need to, but it's probably going to have to wait a little more. I had some real life drama recently, and I'm not really going to have time to dedicate to it until I I get some of it resolved. It shouldn't take long though, but likely after Valentine's Day I would say.

    Very true.

    Hopefully that is the case.

I know that feeling. Perhaps the writing contest will get the creative drive going?

Not quite as good as I would like, but I'm also bouncing between other projects that don't involve writing, so I'm trying to stay productive. How about you?

Let me think about it. I might try to do an entry, I do need practice with this sort of thing, and perhaps the story can be for my ensemble piece I'm working on.

I don't know man, I just never really liked the new characters, and while it was interesting to see Scully turn into the Mulder, I just frankly didn't feel like she had the same good chemistry with her new partners as she did with Mulder. Not helped by the fact that Mulder's abduction felt less like "character building" as much as "excuse to leave the show to pursue other interest and go to therapy" which is what it really was.

I also just never really liked the whole baby element between the two, but then I also just never liked the idea of the two getting together to begin with. This is largely my issue with X-Files is that it begins as more of a Police Investigation series about the paranormal and eventually it becomes more and more about the characters personal stories and I honestly preferred the professional emotional distance they brought in the early seasons over their more comfortable nature's later. Again, I'm indifferent to characterization as a central story drive if I feel the main narrative is interesting on its own.

As time went on, I felt like X-Files became less about the actual X-Files and more just about Scully and Mulder's personal lives and relationships, which kind of turned me off from the show. Even the new season, was off for me cause it felt less like "we're re-opening the X-Files and discovering paranormal activity in the information age!" and more about Mulder and Scully getting back together and sorting through their relationship, which frankly, I felt the second X-Files movie already did a better job doing than the new season did.

See, and I'm the opposite where I need that major pull of the plot to keep me invested, especially in a mystery story like the X-Files... or Persona 4. Even re-watching the first five seasons awhile ago, it seemed to me like the writer's were already kind of rehashing story elements for Mulder and Scully. I mean he's always having a crisis of faith and she's always slowly losing her skepticism. It doesn't help that after awhile, the episodes that actually gave focus to either Mulder or Scully are some of my least favorite cause again, it just kind of felt like the writer's were stretching the believable aspect of their character growth. I mean Mulder seemed to always discover some new twist to his childhood that connects him to government conspiracy, and Scully is always discovering how much that alien abduction did something to her seasons later. I mean, it got a bit contrived after awhile. None of this helps that while I love Mulder and Scully's chemistry with each other, I'm not as much of a fan of them individually.

Some people like the whole series, just not the outspoken ones. I can't really judge the later seasons cause by the time I tried to watch some of them I had missed too much to really follow it. On the other hand though, I was kind of getting sick of the Myth Arc by season five. You can only hold a mystery for so long, and the more I felt we delved into it, the more I began to realize we were likely not going to get a satisfying answer. None of this was being helped that anime, and it's tendency to actually tell complete stories was really jiving with me at the time, so I was getting pretty disenfranchised with the American approach of "keep it going until it stops making money". I mean I love X-Files, but I feel like it would have been better served to have a real ending planned that the series worked it's way to.

Nujabes is pretty excellent. He was one of the musical contributors to Samurai Champloo's OST. The track I sent you was a collaboration he did with another artist, but they kept adding to it, so the songs cover nearly a decade of work together.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
