As I said, these books start small and then grow over time as you write more. The nice thing is that I often find the Story Bible will inspire me to write the main novel, so I often go back and forth between both. I'm actually thinking of starting back on the SB since my new chapter has me venturing into some uncharted territory with a character I rarely wrote, on the other hand, this chapter is also a bit of an info dump concerning certain metaphysical stuff that's been going on for a few chapters now and needs to be addressed. I figure I will do the full explanation in the SB and give an abridged version in the story proper. My main issue now is that I faintly remember writing this stuff down a few years ago in a notebook with the intention of transcribing it to the SB and now I can't remember what I did with it.

Stalled a bit, due to having a pretty busy work schedule and a sudden heat wave (about 35-36 Celsius) hit my area for my non-air conditioned ass sapping away motivation. Not to mention I've been researching FFV stuff for the LP I'm going to hopefully start tonight. My allergies and the heat woke me up early today, so hopefully I can write a chapter today before work and get my momentum moving again.

Glad the Bible is working out for you, and yeah, you should only use it for backstory, listing locations, and defining the world in greater detail. My Bible contains a premise/simple synopsis, a timeline of event leading up to the start of the story, a general description of the major factions, a character sheet section with descriptions, and a glossary of terms used in the story with descriptions. It's about 35 pages and growing at this point. I mainly just use it to keep my head straight on details in my story. I'll need to start thinking about designing a map sooner or later since geographical elements of my story are now better defined.

That's why I write a bible/design doc alongside my larger novels cause lord knows I had to look up the ranks of a few characters and realized I still haven't filled out character sheets for secondary people while I was writing last night. I also need to finally start working on a map and where places are, cause I'll make up a city in an early chapter, decide twenty chapters later to reference it and realize that I forgot what I called it and still haven't quite pinned down where everything is. The bible makes all of this so much easier, and you just write and shift it as you go along.

Yeah, I feel trying something new is what made me hit a wall with the chapter I was stuck on. I turned it into a more surreal sequence which gave me too many options. I'm back to being a bit more grounded and I get to look forward to not only finally getting the plot going forward, but introducing two of my favorite characters.

Well I'm happy that I've been pretty productive with my writing lately, which is largely why a few of my threads went dark. I don't mind though, I finally got past a section that was giving me trouble in Soul and now I've written what might be two of my best chapters yet.

    How is your writing going?

Well that's pretty cool. I heard good things about the new seasons.

It helps a large part of the staff who did the earlier seasons came back to work on it.

Well there was a reason they brought him back for the new seasons.

Doesn't work on the myth arc as much I guess.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 04:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 11:16 AM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 11:13 AM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:57 AM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 10:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
