If you want a story more focused on P1, then go with Nanjou as his plot deals with another returning character from that game. Elly's plot gives some info on Jun's mom and you'll get some interesting backstory on Elly as well. Technically, to unlock the EX Dungeon for the chance to fight Philemon.

Yeah, P4 borrowed heavily from P2 in terms of themes and archetypes, oddly enough, I'd say P5 borrows more from EP while P4 borrows from IS. As for fusion, I didn't mind P2's version since there is a bit more you can do with it, and technically P1's is much deeper than it appears on the surface since making fusions during certain moon phases affects certain elements of the persona. Honestly, I kind of wish Persona would shake it up more and do something different from the main series. It always kind of bothered me knowing that P3 was basically a watered down Nocturne and while P4 and 5 have brought their own quirks, there is a part of me that wouldn't mind seeing something radically different.

Groovy, I'm glad you'll finally get a chance to play it.

Oh I've heard about P2's Word of God canon gay option. Pretty cool!

Yeah the interconnected world element was super cool in the early Persona games, it's a shame they started to get only self referential with the newer installments. P5 has only a few nods to P4 and maybe one for P3, but it seems obvious to me that the team wants to treat the social link titles as a separate universe now.

Yeah, I love P2s story and it just gets more twisted as you jump into EP. I let Tatsuya go with Jun in my playthrough for mainly the same reasons you mentioned and because in EP, Katsuya is an option for her to romance.

I see, interesting~ sounds manageable then. Still sucky though ^^ how did that even happen?

Ah, that's good at least. How are you dealing with the lack of water then? Got a place that has it?

Yeah, the game is real heartrending on a second playthrough. It makes EP also gut wrenching, especially when you're given the option to "awaken" the memorizes of the cast from IS and Lisa breaks down when you refuse to let her help you. There's also the scene when you don't do it and that is also a very melancholic scene as well.

It's a bit more balanced, and Strength is worth putting some points in finally, but the holy trinity still stands since elemental fusion spells are the most common and useful. As for leveling versus negotiations, finding the right balance is crucial, but don't forget you also get the Free Tarot cards by making a pact with a demon and you can use these to offset what you need to purchase new Personas.

He's a rebel, that's why people like him. It's not his looks just his attitude, I mean his brother is like the opposite of him, very handsome but really nerdy and straight-laced.

Well you do have the clinic to go back to and it's not too hard to get to the proper floors in the optional dungeon.

Yeah, Tatsuya's hairstyle is geeky but I kind of like bucket head. It makes him look relatively normal compared to the quirky squad he's running with. Personally I like it better when he starts sporting the red track suit in EP.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 05:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 12:16 PM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 12:13 PM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas and flesh

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 12:57 PM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
