Heh ^^ Well at least you're not just combining all your ideas into the same project =P

I'm sorry that SE has decided to really double down on the PS4 this gen.

Happy to hear you found a cool little gem of a game. I made the mistake of starting FFXII: The Zodiac Age and it's killed my productivity. Hence why I haven't updated NaNo for a few days. It's been very interesting to see the changes made to it. I'm trying to get the Sunstone currently, but instead I'm hunting Marks and checking guides to see if I can find a better weapon for Vaan. The graphical changes haven't been too noticeable for me besides colors being a bit more vibrant, the remixed OST is pretty snazzy, and so far the biggest surprises have been seeing the major gameplay changes made to compensate for the job system.

I shall look into it. The overview trailer looked interesting, but I can't hear the sound until I'm at home (currently on break at work).

It is fun fighting all of the Regeants the normal way. The last battle with Bosch is like the only one where I recommend fighting him with the Dragon Form cause he's a bit more annoying to fight without it unless you have high levels and gear.

It's one of the reasons why I laugh when people whine about the D-Counter cause frankly there is enough in the game to curbstomp over half the game if used sparingly.

Yeah, the sad truth is that your D-Ratio won't go up very much even if you do a full first playthrough with no SOL Restart. Part of that is because several of the factors that would increase your rank are just not accessible to you on a first run and since the game is much harder on that first playthrough, your time will likely be off since you'll be more cautious. On the other hand, you get access to the Dragon Blade now when you first enter Odjn's room and that weapon makes Ryu an absolute beast and just gets stronger with every playthrough.

It's not my birthday actually but thanks anyway. My birthday technically falls on the anniversary of what some might consider to be a darker revolution in Western Europe.

Will be interesting to see where it goes. I'm already having flashbacks of college courses discussing virtual worlds, and like then, I'm still baffled how people could see this idea as useful.

Yeah, I'm digging the 90s X-Files vibes as well with this entry. I'll probably be a little slow on this one sadly since I'm still working on NaNo and part of me is also thinking of starting Tactics Ogre finally.

I said she was calm actually. Cool learning that this simple question changes her skill set. So far it's been amusing cause you can easily tell this was a Sega Saturn title but it's trying really hard to upgrade it, similar to the PSP ports of P1 and 2. I still like the visual style though, I'm on the first Dream Quest.

I've decided that Devil Summoner was Atlus' experimental MegaTen division as these games try way more new ideas and gameplay mechanics than the mainline series or even Persona eventually.

Then ending was interesting since it feels like it segues back into the SEBEC arc. I beat the final boss much like you did with MC using Lilim and Eriko using Armarati to no sell all of the bosses attacks. The final story Personas are all kind of worthless against this boss which I sort of expected to happen when I looked at their weakness spread. SQQ is definitely where you go for the challenge of the game and it makes trying to acquire some of the higher tier Personas more worthwhile. The party I used was interesting, but not necessarily ideal in terms of conversations sadly. My favorite of the Ultimate Personas for the party are still Durga for Yukki and Michael for Eriko.

Part of your world

by Fynn on 06-06-2017 at 05:37 PM
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving

On FFVII (part of my Fmarathon rant)

by Fynn on 11-23-2016 at 12:16 PM
Decided this is worthy of being a blog-post, since it turned out to be a much bigger rant than I expected and I'm not sure the marathon's audience is really there for that kind of stuff

Frustrations of the writerly sort

by Fynn on 07-01-2016 at 12:13 PM
So there's this thing I've been struggling for quite some time. I don't want to call it a "writer's block" because it kind of seems like an excuse for being lazy. And it usually doesn't last long. This is something that's been eating at me for a long time.

I just kinda feel that I can't write anymore.

I mean, I still write articles for the site sometimes and I write other texts at my work, but it seems like, creatively, I've dried up. I'll come up with ideas

On story expectations

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 12:57 PM
So this is kind of a general discussion, but the general rant I have is based on three popular 3DS RPGs: Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. Sorry if this is chaotic, as I'm just writing this as it comes into my mind. Also, spoilers from the three games abound.

All of those games were very well received, though for different reasons. SMT is kind of here to serve as a neutral ground, as the evaluation of its story is pretty divided, whereas the consensus

Character Appreciation: Junpei Iori

by Fynn on 03-30-2016 at 11:37 AM
This is in no way an idea I stole from Pumpkin, no siree.

Junpei Iori is a character from the Persona franchise. He first appears in Persona 3 and all of its subsequent releases as a playable party member. He becomes a social link character as well in the female path of Persona 3 Portable, though he isn't date-able. He is also playable in
