Ah, thats right, I forgot all about no GYM's another thing I didn't like.

Often I don't use pokemon based on their strengths I use them because I like them, and I think they're cool. As for no challenges, I always, ALWAYS beat the Elite Four with a severely weak party to make sure I still have to use strategy. When I first beat the Elite Four in Diamond my highest leveled Pokemon was 55 with quite a few pokemon that weren't even level 50. The Champion's highest is like, 67. All the others use mid to upper 50's going into 60.

I didn't dislike it out of challenge, but out of principle. Pokemon was awesome for the adventure. I could go and catch lots and lots of pokemon, whichever I wanted, or very few if I wanted to focus my training. There was a real feeling of, "Wow, these are mine to raise." It gave an subversive feeling, and I loved it. Breeding Eggs was a very cool addition which added to the feeling even more. Challenging GYMs and the Elite Four, having a rival who you where constantly trying to outdo. Thats what I liked about pokemon. The 'Teams' of the ports always gave me an interesting sub-plot, but I really didn't play for them.

Shadow Pokemon where awful. I never found the portable storylines good, same went for The Gamecube's. I never played Pokemon for its stories. I wanted a full out 3-D Pokemon adventure like you'd get from the ports. Instead I got a hack job where I couldn't catch wild pokemon, I couldn't even catch half the total. It never felt like 'Oh yeah this are my pokemon that I raised!' And don't get me started on deciding to give us FFX's version of a world map. I loved Pokemon's use of 'Wow I've traveled real far.' This game took that away too.

EDIT: Besides making nearly all the Pokemon catchable in Diamond and Pearl was clearly the best thing to happen to pokemon. Gotta catch'um all!

Okay, rule number one from now on: stop with the 'I hope I didn't offend you' stuff. There is probably nothing someone with your personality could ever do to offend me. Loosen up a bit! You'll live longer.

Anyway, that's a valid reason for disliking it, but I personally didn't find Haruhi to be that selfish and inconsiderate-- I mean, yeah, she was, but a lot of the time it was for comedic effect-- TMoHS is a seinen comedy series after all. And the story is unique in the fact that instead of having a character that acts and thinks that he/she should be the center of the universe, Haruhi actually is the center of the universe. Because of her godlike powers, she can literally do as she pleases. It's not that she was made to be an irritation-- not in my eyes at least. I see the series as an example of what someone who actually is the center of the universe would be like. Consider it a satire.
