Frank Zappa debates are so last season.

That's just to plainly present the entire argument for easy viewing.

This is my final comment before my long absence. When I come back, there will be the final sections of LunarWeaver's bedtime story and some new Church meetings... something for you all to look forward to, just as I'm looking forward to reading Goldenboco's Eoff Playing parts.

NOW:To think roto13-ness is the 21 year old and I'm the 16 year old. While he says "Pwn'ed" I actually make a good argument. :rolleyes2

Frank never used any heavy drugs in his life. The most he did was smoke ciggarettes. I know this because he and all of his bandmates have assured time and time again that all he did was smoke.

You don't need drugs to create wierd music.

Think of all the creativity of people like Mozart, Beethoven and Rachmaninov. Heavy drugs didn't exist back then (at least, not in an accesible way.) A lot of their creativity came from being partially insane; more specifically, manic.

I wouldn't be surprised if Frank was manic. But he sure as hell wasn't drugged up. If you listen to the complexity of, say, "the Grand Wazoo," "Hot Rats," or any of his orchestral compositions, music with that much complexity and good production doesn't come from someone on a heroin high, or floating with weed.

I absoutely agree with you on this one. It's a bad song on one of his worst albums.

He's incredibly diverse from album to album. He could do a rock album, a blues album, a big band album, and then a pop album.

It's the instrumental stuff that shows his compositional genius. Try listening to Hot Rats, the Grand Wazoo or the Yellow Shark to hear how well he can write.

Bobby Brown is a bad place to start. It's an offensive pop song with no proper musical tune.

I haven't heard much Zappa because I don't like it when my ears bleed.

Oh and Frank Zappa, I used to have his autograph (Yes an Actual original not a copy, unfortunately it was a gift from a neighbour I was too young to go to a gig and get one I wasn't even born back then) I believe his best to be the live cover of stairway to heaven, he did so much better than led zepplin did it and they wrote it!
