Bowser and DK are for control, Yoshi is for balance, and Toad or Princess are for speed. >:o So there.

Ever played Mario Kart on the gamecube? They pretty much ruined it by making you put two people on a kart. That sounds fun for multiplayer, but really one person sits there and throws items while the other drives. If it's one player, then it's really nothing more than before except you have to switch people around in order to throw your items. And they added different karts into the equation. That might sound better, but I think the simplicity was part of the fun of Mario Kart.

Is the DS version fun? I sometimes wish I had a DS, but I probably shouldn't be spending that much money on video games anymore.

Most of my Mario Kart existence is from playing against my friend Luke and his brothers, 'cause he had a SNES and I didn't. :D We were always either TK or Toad.

I agree with that, though. Ever since they Dropped TK i've been going with someone else, on the DS Mario Kart I used Luigi. I think I used Yoshi on the N64 game. O:

My Mario Kart experience was pretty much by myself, where the computer really was no match for me, or against my mom, who used to play against me. She was always Mario. We were fairly evenly matched.

It should be noted that in later mario karts, I found donkey kong less appealing. I usually went with a mid sized character then.

The thing about the slow acceleration is that people hit you quite often with shells and other weapons, then you will continually be losing your speed so it could get pretty frustrating. I guess too that if TK and Toad ARE slow, but with decent acceleration, the ground you'd make up in the corners on the other characters would make them seem fast. O:

I totally love talking about Super Mario Kart. I wish I could get my SNES back from my sister. She probably just has it in a closet somewhere. I wonder if it still works?

I guess I could always do the emulator thing, but I don't have a very good controller for my computer. I shoudl get one.

I think the reason people think DK and Bowser are slow is that they take so long to get up to top speed. If you hit something, then they come to a stop and if you aren't very good with them, they seem really slow.

I was pretty good with Donkey Kong, I had power sliding down. He was fast. But of course they all had their advantage and disadvantages.

Yes I just saw that, too! And then in other FAQ's they quote DK as being Slow and with Toad being fast. So I'm confused now. If my SNES emulator hadn't broken, i'd play Mario Kart now and find out. :{

Oh well, looks like we'll definitely have to have that race now. :D (only, not on rainbow road. :})

edit: Although, I suppose at the end of the day it comes down to how you drive with your chosen driver. DK was always slow and not good to me, but he is your favourite character and you're good with him, and TK is apparantly the slowest character in the game, but I always found him to be quick and the best, so I suppose it's all relative to your skill. :D

Kyono, I found this in an FAQ and they say it is from the game manual, but they might be lying...
