No, I'm not an English major but it was that kind of class. Confusing as it may be, it was required.

I just like the name Voltaire and the book was turquoise so I was like, "Okay!" Nah, I had to read it for an English course I was taking in uni. We also had to read Whitman, pretentious crap like Rumi, Beckett, and Sontag.

Oh weird, Voltaire was mentioned. I was just cleaning up my book shelf recently and picked up a copy of Candide and thought to myself, "Now that was a decent book."

Beatnick Jerry takes his girl, Angie to the carnival. Angie wants to go see the gypsy fortune teller, Jerry does not but relents. After visiting the fortune teller and hearing bad news, Jerry goes alone to see Carmelita, the dancer (the fortune teller's sister). He is invited backstage and is mesmerized into becoming a psychotic killer. Angie, and Jerry's best friend Harold realize something is amiss when Jerry tries to kill Angie.
