I agree, the movie was a big pile of bad . However, the musical, I believe, is one of, if not the best ever written. Victor Hugo's books' good too, although it's goddamn massive. Quite literally 4 inches thick.

Les Miserables the movie was horrible. The play might be more interesting. Both equally depressing.
