The casinos in DQ are pure evil and it's honestly bothered me that there's so much focus on them. But what the hey. I still love DQ.

So yeah, getting 500,000 yen through code breaker was pretty easy, and I liked that there was actually more than sheer luck to it. By the end, I could get the prize I wanted pretty safely. Now I've moved on to poker to get those 19,000 coins and currently have 15,900 and boy, do I not enjoy something that relies on luck so much. How do people even get addicted to gambling? It's infuriating!

Btw, is it just me, or are Mark and Nanjo kind of stand-ins for a law and chaos hero in this game, with Maki being the heroine? Of course, alignments don't really play a role in this series, but their outlooks pretty much lie within the more mild interpretations of the alignments. Though it's probably more appropriate to call them the id and the superego to your protagonist. Nanjo is very detached and calculating, while Mark is the epitome of acting before thinking and acting on your emotions.

Also, Elly is pretty savage. I never noticed this since I never really had her in my party for long, but now whenever I go into the casino there's this guy flirting with her and saying he'll protect her from the demons, and she shuts him down completely, ending it with a punctuated "bother. someone. else.", all with that grin on her portrait. You weren't kidding when you said the SSQ crew is a bunch of Mean Girls.

Btw, I actually heard about the incident that the game you linked is about!

Too much time spent watching Alltime Conspiracies

I might check it out then!

By the way, started playing Code Breaker in the casino and I'm not doing bad! Already earned 200,000 yen through it, so I'm almost halfway there! Then I have to move on to the other games for coins...

I mean, Poland actually makes a troutton of games. I can't possibly follow all of them

I have not even heard of it! What is it?

I don't really have anything else to play at the moment, though. Or anything I'd like to start. If anything, I'd like to handle the SQQ while I'm still in a Persona mood rather than force myself to play anything else just to fill a void. Nah, I wanna do this now. I'll probably use the exploit mentioned in the wikidot guide - I'll use my PC to transfer my suspend saves so I can have actual saves in the tower. Call me a cheater, but I'd rather just get it done

    uhhhh

This sounds overwhelming already. I may be coming back to you for tips once in a while, since I'm legit worried I'll be failing at the casino hard.

Do you think level 25 is decent when it comes to starting the quest? Or should I grind my hero all the way up to 30?

I have other things to catch up with...

by Wolf Kanno on 04-09-2025 at 07:53 AM
I know I already have a lot on my plate, but I do want to finish a few other things besides writing projects and my various marathons.

I like to do gunpla and other mecha themed model kits, and I still have six more I need to finish. I have the old MG line of Gundam Wing Endless Waltz models from back in the early 2000s and I still need to put together the Tallgeese III to complete the set. I also recently picked up the EW version of Gundam Epyon from the same series because GW was

Games tha are distracting me from playing other games...

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit
